Walker Elementary has an open mind about mixing grades together, working with parents with Love and Logic methods for rearing children, and a hands on attitude toward change.

My daughter has been at Walker for two years and she loves it. The staff are experienced, inventive and warm. The material is presented in ways that are engaging and age appropriate. We love Walker school and would reccomend it to any new family coming to the area.

Walker is a great school for my kindergartener. She is very artistic and each child is encouraged to flourish in their area of interest at their own rate. Basic learning is incorporated in fun activities. For example: math is brought into the creation of a monthly calendar, spelling is taught through creative writing. Respect and self control are major concepts imparted upon their class. Chris Abbott-stokes is my daughter's teacher and she and her assistant, Maria, are wonderful. The activities span from reading hour in the library to music with Emy to Art room time/projects to gardening! My daughter's confidence has grown and she has met so many interesting friends, one of whom is from Mexico. She has inspired my daughter to learn Spanish. THe principal is phenomenal. She knows each child by name and is present in their classroom regularly. I am thrilled with this school.

My son went to Walker for a year for 5th Grade. I have never seen a better school. The teachers cared so much for there students. The children were so kind and considerate. Kids learned cultural and world diversisty. The community supported the school and made sure the school never went without. They have a great art and music program as well. You can not go wrong with putting your kids in this school.
