The bare minimum can describe this school. I am currently a junior here and i am looking for a new school for next year. the electives are basically art and construction, plus there is a band to put it short i only know one teacher here that actually cares if i understand what i am doing and if i succeed, they don't have any technology classes after this year which is bad not only for people looking into technology based careers but everyone should know how to run basic computer programs especially in the society we live in today. The school is very old and run down inside which is a bad thing for a learning environment, however they do at least try and clean up some spots. basically the students here will categorize each other which is a problem for a small school because everyone knows each other which can sometimes lead to harassing or bullying if you will. another thing I have noticed as a student here is that since my freshmen year more violence has begun which used to be part of Banks' nicest qualities don,t get me wrong not that often does something like this happen but it has happened. if you want more opportunity for yourself or your child do not go to this school. Thanks
Forest grove has a great high school. Their classes prepare the children for college & the real world.
This school is small with a few teachers that care about their students. Although there are obviously some others that are there just to get by and do something else. Not much commitment at all. Great Band School
I concur with other reviewers on several points. I went to Banks schoools and had a great time, but it did not prepare me nor my classmates for the real world then, and it still comes up short. That's why my children no longer attend my alma mater. Despite a few good teachers the school is so small you are often stuck with the bad ones too. There are very few choices with teachers or curiculum. After graduation the success rate for those attending college is poor. You don't get lost in the crowd at Banks, but the downside is you are often locked into or out of a clique and there is never anyone new to meet. If you are just after a HS diploma and are going straight into the workforce it may not be a bad school, but for those looking at college there are much better choices.
this school is the best school to attend. free of gangs and drugs that you find at larger schools. and the music program is exploding right now. go braves!!!
I have my second child attending this school. Although there are a few teachers dedicated to the students success, I find the majority of them to not care about seeing the students succeed. I am currently looking into alternatives for my freshman.
I attended Banks high school for the past four year and I loved every minute of it. The school is small, but that is a good thing because you know everyone and everyone knows you. With being a small school the teachers are always willing to help. They care about how their students do. They push you and make sure you do well. The girls basketball head coach is awsome. He helps you learn the goods and the bads. He will listen when you talk. The bottom line is that I loved going to Banks and now that it is over I wish that you could go to college there too. I love Banks and I loved it at the school.
Ok, Ive been to other schools, and seen what they have to offer. The fact that you can be here for a few months and know everyone, that is really neat. Being somewhere else you can be there all year long and they still wouldn't know your name. The teachers are all really nice and personal; they like what they do and you can actually tell that they care. I attend Banks High, and at first I hated the fact of leaving my old school, but now I don't want to leave here. The great people and atmosphere is so refreshing. I love it!
I went to this high school for all 4 years of my HS career, and I have to admit it is lacking in classes. It's great if you are into art, agriculture, or sports, but I felt that all that is left over is the bare minimum requirements (English, Math, etc...). The teachers are great, but the classes should be harder, and there should be more of them. I understand that with a small school it's hard to get a lot of variety of classes, but when the classes that have the most options are computer science, art, or agriculture, it doesn't leave much to choose from.
This is a good school in many different ways. I love the english courses, especially the honors classes. Its kinda of sad that we only have one second language, but I really enjoy Spanish, and the teacher is great! All of the teachers are great, you get use to them and all the staff and students and then you get to enjoy high school more. Isn't that how it is suppose to be?
