This is the third Waldorf school that our son has attended and our favorite. His teacher is the best. She has great communication with the parents on a weekly basis, plans amazing field trips and cooks delicious and nutritious meals with them. Our son is enjoying all his lessons from letters, math, woodworking, movement and handwork (to name a few). We are thrilled with his progress. On top of having a great teacher we also have such a beautiful and supportive school community that is now like family. We are so grateful to have found the right school for us.

Our boys love school!! That in itself is a great compliment. An amazing Waldorf curriculum is brought in such a way that the academic rigor in the forefront of all they do is not overshadowed by the fun of learning. There is a very strong sense of community which has been created by the parents, the faculty and the administration. The old adage of " It takes a village to educate a child" is truly living at the Waldorf School of Bend.

We have two daughters (grades 1 and 3) at WSB, and we incredibly pleased with our school. We love the curriculum; the experiential learning through art, music and movement in addition to traditional academics really speaks to our desire for a holistic and whole-child approach to education. The education is a classical education, brought by caring teachers who really understand where our daughters are at academically and in their social and emotional development. The faculty strive to bring a love of community through community service projects and team building. The love of the natural world is brought to the students through extensive outdoor field trips and the celebration of seasonal festivals. The community of parents feels like a family, as everyone is very engaged and involved in their children's education and school life. We feel very blessed to have such a warm and loving community in Bend. We highly recommend this school to anyone who truly wants their child to be supported and nurtured through their academic career.

We searched for an environment that placed less emphasis on testing and more on deep, engaged learning that meets the child where they are. At Waldorf School of Bend, our daughter feels safe, loved, inspired, and nurtured by the tremendously dedicated faculty and staff. A snapshot of the rich, weekly curriculum, beginning in first grade: math, language arts, Spanish, German, music, cooking, woodworking, handwork, art, movement, nature studies, and lots of time outside -- and more. The field trips ensure that students explore beyond the school's walls (dogsledding, farm visits, and more). From hands-on science experiments to performing a Roman comedy, students here get a truly well-rounded, classical education -- that beautifully builds layer upon layer of knowledge, and a passion for problem-solving, exploration, community involvement, and life itself. It is a growing school with exciting plans for the future and a dedicated, welcoming parent community. On a given day, the cheerful, happy halls are full of the smell of freshly baked bread, the sound of piano and flute, bright watercolors, and happy, curious faces.

What an amazing place! I love how they teach the whole child and not just the mind!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
