Muddy Creek Charter School, a public charter school in rural Corvallis, is an AMAZING place for children to learn and thrive. This is NOT the type of horrible private charter school you hear about that treats teachers and students like commodities; they are the exact opposite. The entire staff will know your child's strengths and weaknesses within days of enrolling him or her, and they all work together to prepare students for success. The curriculum is heavily place-based, and so they are constantly involving the kids in nature-based service projects that strongly integrate art and science. Students are encouraged to learn in a supportive and creative environment, and the curriculum is comprehensive, challenging, and entirely student-centered. My son has been attending this school for three years, and it has truly been an ideal elementary school experience.
GREAT school... rural, place-based curriculum with high parent involvement. Cater to each individual child's ability, lots of field work at local nature refuge and farms, incorporating science and art. Community togetherness fostered. Kids love to go there.... They make learning fun!
