I have volunteered in the Dallas School District since my grandson was in first grade. He has always been a shy and quiet boy but the teachers I have had the privilege of working with at Lyle and Whitworth Schools were simply the best. They really take the time to listen and work with the children. I have seen my grandson blossom under their tutlege and care. The one thing that is very impressive is that the children all seem pleasant and happy and respectful. I give my highest recommendation to this school and it's principal. My grandson is thriving in an environment that is supportive and safe. This school is teaching the values that will be of the greatest benefit to our society, respect and tolerance of all.

This school has been by far the best that i have had the pleasure of dealing with! Excellent testing proceedures and communication with parents. I truely believe that they will leave no child behind.

My son is disabled with autism and developmental disabilities so I searched my local area for the best school system. After interviewing many school districts in and around the Salem area I found this to be the best. We moved to the City of Dallas when my son started 1st grade and I have never regretted this decision. The administration and teaching staff have provided the best educational experience while the children in each of his classrooms provided friendship. I could not have hoped for more. If you are of the belief that a community raises a child then this is a school to consider. I highly recommend this school and its wonderful staff and teachers. Thank you.

My daughter really seems to love this school, the teachers are awesome and the principal is great as well. They are very helpful when the children need it and also when the parent needs it. My daughter seems to be doing very well at this school and I couldn't have picked a better school for her.

I absolutely love how devoted and involved the entire staff is here. I enjoy being welcomed into the environment my daughter spends most of her time in. I appreciate the love from teachers, aides, and administration alike.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
