13 reviews and only two from actual parents. I'll chime in... So far, I'm not impressed. We're just finishing up our freshman year so hopefully it was just a rocky start - but we do not like how they break the year up into terms (meaning - a student can go over a year without math), we do not like off-campus lunch (sorry kids), we do not like how the campus is right next door to a really bad apartment complex, we are not impressed by the kids we see walking to school smoking joints, we are not impressed with all the beer cans we find in bushes around the side and back area of the school, and we are not impressed with all the discrepencies in notes home and on th website with regards to dates/times/info, etc. Also, we were treated very rudely by two different staff members on two different occassions which left us feeling as though we'd be better off homeschooling. The freshman counselor we love. The main office lady we love. But we don't care for the Sheldon arrogance and the emphasis placed on competitive sports. If your student is into sports, Sheldon would be a good fit. Otherwise... it's not the only high school worth checking out.

The teachers at Sheldon High School really taught me a lot and I am proud to say I went there. If I had children or even grandghildren I would want them to go to Sheldon High because in my eyes there is no better school.

This is a great school! I'm a student at the moment, and graduate in 2011. I personally really like it here. There is a lot of partying here, but it's easy to stay out of it. I've met amazing friends, and it's pretty easy to keep good grades up.

I graduated from Sheldon this last year. Freshmen year I had attended North Eugene High School and I must admit I more than happy that I had transferred to Sheldon. The atmosphere is great and the students always seem to get along with everyone, no matter what group they are a part of. The teachers themselves have taught me skills that I know I'll need in the future and have proven to be great friends.

I am a current student at Sheldon High School...supposed to have gone to Thurston HS. I love my peers and the cllasses; however, I am a little disapointed about the stereotypes that Sheldon HS accumulate. All that I hear about Sheldon, from rival schools, is that it is superficial and difficult. I have met some of the most real people in my life there, and I can keep A's in all of my classes without too much effort. I just wish that other people would take time before they judge the students that attend the school. Just because we have money, and win many sports and educational awards, doesn't mean that we don't care about others. We were first football team in the state last year. We also have very high test scores. Go fighting irish! Class of 2010.

As a former student at Sheldon, I can proudly say the Henry D. Sheldon High School was the most horrible school I have ever attended in my whole life. The kids are very rude and snobby. They think very highly of themselves because they win every sport in the Eugene school district. There were a lot of clicks at the school and a horrible amount of racism. Sheldon was mainly full of kids with wealthy families, and none of the children knew how to show adults any kind of respect. I strongly recommend sending your kid someplace else.

A wonderful variety of course options offered within a supportive and encouraging environment. I recommend this school highly.

This school is doing everything possible to use the limited resources available. They offer a campus where kids are encouraged to take responsibilty for themselves and also offer a campus that has great tollerance within the student body for their peers.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
