I am very surprised by Gilchrist. I came there having very low expectations. We came from a much larger school district, but I actually LOVE it here! My high school child cannot skip classes (There is no where to go!) This year past year they actually scored "Outstanding" on the Oregon State School Report Card. I have personally spoken with each teacher and they really are there to help EACH child to their best. As for my grader school child, Gilchrist was ahead with their math program, there are small groups for reading (about 4) and math (about 10). Each child is getting individualized attention. I am so very pleased that I we found Gilchrist. Yes, they are lacking with $$$ for sports and electives, but there are enough positives to make up for those 2 things.

This school has a dedicated staff that works as hard as they can with what little they have. The state keeps cutting our programs and the teachers are working extra hours with less pay. I think they are doing a fabulous job!

I am very discusted with how Klamath County has handled the situation of combining the grade school, k-6 grades. It is complete caos, to say the least. We had to take or daughter out of 1st grade and home school her. Now she is getting the education she deserves in life. If it wasnt for the economy that is keeping our family land locked, we would have moved from this county alot earlier.

Sometimes you have to ask your self a very simple question. This queastion would be 'Can they really help it?' Our school is really at the bottom of the food chain. By this i mean that we don't really have the funding for those after school activities. And just to be in sports...we still have to give a arm or a leg. To have these things you have to have money. And that's something we simply aren't provided with. You may say somthing life...well why don't they have a fund raiser? It's not only a poor school, but we live in a poor comunity. People jsut don't have the money to give now a days. I went to a larger school for about a month. A school that i thought would be jsut the most cooliest thing ever! bigger school, better lunches, more people. But really i hated it.....( continue....

The only extra curricular activities available are sports, no music, no food occupations, not much to offer. Report card from district gives this school a low rating. I agree

Gilchrist School is a very close knit school, and once you make frends there, you can count on them being there for you. But it really is a bad school, they offer next to no classes, and some of their teachers are a complete joke. Don't get me wrong, there are some great teachers there, but some shouldn't even have a teaching certificate! (If they even do!!)
