I do not recommend this school/district! If you are considering living in Gold Beach, do some research. Look up past articles in the Curry County Reporter, available online. About a quarter of the teaching staff was laid off for the coming 2011-12 school year. Class sizes will be larger and some will be mixed grades. Curry County is also in extremely serious financial trouble. Should you need pediatric care be prepared to travel. Special ed can be extremely difficult to obtain if needed. There are some staff that try and I think genuinely care. A few in significant positions have not lived up to their responsibility, in my experience. This is a beautiful area, but we paid too great a price for our family and I regret moving to Gold Beach.
This school is a fantastic school that has teachers that truly care about both education and the children that attend. I recommend this school for all those who want to see their children grounded in values that they can carry on in the future. I love this school! My son continues to excel as well as speaks highly of all his teachers he has had since starting here in the 5th grade. Living here in a small community adds to the personal nature that the school presents. The principal is awesome and is very approachable both with parents and students. I would recommend Riley Creek to any and all who come here.
This is a great school with teachers that genuinely care about their students. My granddaughter went to Riley Creek and was a good student and is doing very well in High School. My grandson, who is in the fifth grade is however another issue. He has problems, lots of problems, but the school is great about helping him. We are fortunate to live in such a great school district.
Because the teachers are young and motivated. My daughter goes there as well. They have a sweet garden.
