My daughter has been going to this school since kindergarten. She is now in third grade. She loves this school. The teachers here don t act like it s just another day at work. They actually care about the students and their progress.

Both of my children attend here. I could not ask for better teachers and staff. What a wonderful school in all aspects.

My daughter has attended Hogan Cedars since Kindergarten and is now finishing up 2nd grade. The commitment and dedication from the teachers is one of strengths of the school. The teachers work together to help all students succeed which allow them to work smarter, not harder! I am very pleased with the progress my daughter has made and feel she will be right on track for state testing next year. The only thing I wish there was more of at Hogan Cedars is community building. I realize that school is about educating children, however, I feel that a lot of opportunities to build community with students and their families helps strengthen education.

We had a difficult time while our son was at this school. From kindergarten to 2nd grade he dreaded going to school. Part of the philosophy was to let the kids go at their own pace during school and send them home with hours and hours of homework. In other words, let the parents do the teaching. Our children are all at other schools now and much happier.

I am thrilled with the education our daughters are receiving at Hogan Cedars. They are making excellent academic progress and they love school! Their teachers have all been very committed, caring, and knowledgeable of current educational practices. Each time I enter the building I enjoy the positive learning environment and I'm thankful our girls are able to attend Hogan Cedars.

Overall very good but still suffers from some of the common ailments of Oregon Public schools such as whining about never having enough money. I don't think there is such a thing as giving a school enough money. Good Principal and parent involvement. Class size is of course to large but there does seem to be a pretty good attitude.

My 1st grader has 31 kids in his class that are being cared for and taught by 1 teacher with no assistant. Ouch. This needs to change. Great school but please help us.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
