This whole family - 3 generations - is extremely pleased with this school. The prinicle is amazing; always available, corrects problems, rewards achivments. The teachers also are just an email away and always attentive to each child. The balance of the staff and most parents are as involed as possible. We chose our 1st home on others recommendation for this school. We chose our 2nd home to remain within this school district.

My kids have gone to East Orient the last 2 school years now. This has been an awesome experience. The teachers have been great, as have the other staff members, including the principal and even the receptionists. The counselor has been so wonderful. She, especially, has been a great deal of help and has done so many things for my kids. I am considering moving near my girlfriend but that would mean changing school districts and I am not sure I want to do that.

My son started first grade this school year at eo. His teacher and the staff are great!! he came from 3yrs in a private school setting for pre/kind. And this school has been a great transition. I am a little concerned about the class size but, they were quick to hire a full-time asst.

This school is top notch. Everyone seems to like their job and the people they work with. Most staff know the childrens names and many of the parents as well. They truly seem to care. My kids have been there for 3 years now and I have no complaints. Even when class sizes get large they find the resources to give them help.

The staff OF EO have been so wonderfull for my son. He started here in the third grade after years of homeschooling. The staff and students realy focus on being caring and compassionate toward others. His teachers have gone out of their way to help him overcome learning difficulties. The principal, office staff, and custodian know each child by name and there is a very high percentage of parent involvement. This little school is full of art, has a nice country setting. I was concerned about large clas sizes in some grades, but I can honestly say these teachers do an excellent job giving each student individual attention, modifications and realy make the kids feel like they are all family. They have weekly assemblies for recognitiiion, presentations, demonstrations and excercise school spirit.

This is a great school, from the teachers to the support staff to the children! They do things as a 'community'. The only concern I have to date is the number of children in each class room. There are many new teachers this year that seem a bit green, but are still doing a great job.

This school is great. The teachers go above and beyond! The office staff is always smiling along with the rest of the support staff. A concern is the size of the kindergarten class.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
