The head of school & pedagogic director at ILA are amazing! They are incredibly responsive & attentive to each individual child's abilities & needs. They do not promote education that is applied blindly in a uniform fashion. Rather, they promote education that serves the child's particular learning style and abilities. They are remarkably committed to each pupil's overall success & to fostering learning in the fullest sense of the word. This passion for providing an education that extends far beyond rote memorization and task orientation exceeds what is found in even the best of public school systems in the United States & the approach of the directors is reflected in the daily instruction provided to all children, from the toddler classroom to the upper elementary grades. The commitment to the children is unparalleled & the expansive curriculum that explores experientially and didactically well beyond the traditional reading, writing and arithmetic is a model to be emulated.
ILA has a lot of variety in what they provide in their curriculum. It is so much more than being able to learn a foreign language--they educate children in the French way, which is structured and rigorous when it should be but manages to foster curiosity and creativity. It's a small community that really caters to individual needs and fosters openness with parents. The teachers come from France and are fabulous.
The only reason for 4 stars is the outdoor space is small, which is more relevant as kids get older and bigger.
Unmatched teacher dedication. Our child went from never hearing french to being basically fluent in a year. Plus a commitment to the arts that you just don't get elsewhere. It's a small school, and has some growing pains, but there's nothing close to the value of this school. Great before school and after school options too.
