Recently I attended a meeting as an advocate for a child and I was completely disgusted at the staff's total disregard for the child's needs and the concerns of the parent. It was implied to the parent that all the child's problems were in her head. A letter from the child's doctor was submitted and disregarded as not important. The child's therapist was in attendance and she was also disregarded. Never before have I seen such gross abuse of power.

My child has some learning disabilities that are well documented and supported by professionals. These are not being addressed by some of the staff at Oceanlake Elementary at the expense of my child's learning and emotional well being, despite my continuous efforts to resolve this problem. This is NOT acceptable.

For the 2009/2010 school yr my son was in 5th grade. I was told by his teacher at the end of the school yr that he was put thru to 6th grd because the final decision wasn't up to him. They put my son into 6th grd because they had to, even though his test scores were low.

My daughter is in a 1st/2nd split class, and I couldn't be happier with her teacher and the various activities offered in class. They have music time, art, and already 2 field trips! For a small coastal community, I am not disappointed.

Oceanlake has a wonderful staff of teachers and a great principal. The unfortunate situation in Lincoln City is funding. The classrooms are overcrowded and we never know if the children will have music or physical education courses. The disappointment I have is with the lack of support from a retirement/vacation community, not from the school or staff.

There was 40 kids in my daughters 3rd grade class this year. I would not recommend this school. The teachers are great, but due to large class sizes and budget cuts from the district the kids are suffering. No PE, music, art classes or any sports are offered as well.

There are nearly 40-45 kids per class at Oceanlake.Due to state budget cuts. There is not enough room in the lunch room for all the children to eat so they are constantly kept together with their own classroom. There is a skateboard park right across from the school that is unsupervised.Kids as young as 9 can go there to smoke and learn about gang habits!
