i have to agree with others with complaints on the special education issues, but hoped it has improved over the years. My older brother has an IQ of 72 and was treated poorly. The principal at the time asked him a question and I guess wasnt satisfied with the answer and paddled him after calling my brother scrambled eggs for brains. I will never forgive that horrible man for that. We was poor and was harrassed all the time and it was allowed. I gave it a 2 star rating because of the 4th grade teacher passed on to me a life long love of reading. Just wish they was able to help my brother. This was over 30 years ago and had hoped it has improved.

Mari-Linn school does the best they can with the available resources. We've only had experience with teachers in K through 4 and have nothing but great things to say about those teachers and assistants. The teachers really work with our children to challenge them in ways that will meet their needs and interests, which is fantastic. Technology like smartboards and laptops are used to help give kids the skills they need in today's technologically advanced world. There is a small, yet supportive and motivated group of parents who turn out to help with most events, and it would be great if there were more. There are many opportunities for community involvement and Principal Loftus (Harbison) is always willing to meet with parents and hear concerns and suggestions. Like I said, I can only speak to the quality of education in grades K-4, so I cannot vouch for the upper hall teachers or support. Our family loves Mari-Linn!

The moment we walked through Mari-Linn for the first time...to bring our son to Kindergarten...we knew what a special place it was. We immediately felt like we were home. What a friendly, wonderful staff...and principle. We would not have our son go anywhere else!! We love Mari-Linn!!!

Horrible school. Horrible expereince for my son who moved to this school mid way in year> we were all treated pooly by staff and school administration. The school is an elite crowd and either you are accepted or you are not! low income is not accepted here.

I love Mari-Linn, we moved to Lyons just for the school. The teachers, pta and principal is great. My son does have a learning disablitiy and they do help work with him alot, the teachers contact me when they see he is having troubles and give me information on what to work with him at home. I love this school and would not trade it for the world, I wish we could get the bond passed so we can upgrade, that would be great! My son loves it at Mari-Linn so thank you teachers and staff and thank you to the custodians for keeping it a safe and clean place for my children to go~

Excellent teachers & staff. I enjoy the personal attention each of my child receive. I love knowing that this staff knows our names and we're not just a number on the roster. My kids are happy, doing well in school & love their teachers. What else could a parent ask for? Hornets Forever!

I have had children going to Mari Linn School for 13 years now,and I have my youngest in 1st grade so I have many more years to go and I couldnt ask for a better school or staff. My senior still says Mari Linn was his best time in school. The principal is wonderful and the staff is fantastic.I wouldnt send my kids anywhere else , I am a foster parent also and I have had some children with behavioral issues and the staff was great & very involved. As far as going to PTA meetings ,My husband is a truck driver and I do daycare .Weekends are the only time that we are free so I dont believe you need to be involved with the PTA or a helper in order to be an involved parent. My family loves Mari LInn and the staff and would highly recommend this school to anyone.
