Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My son is Mentally Challenged and the school has help us so much. My son is in a very good L.R.C program. His teachers are wonderful.

It is good in some areas, and bad in others. There are alot of great teachers that can teach anything, however there are some that can't teach well or get off topic on their own with ease. It needs alot more funding to be able to keep up after school activities, and cuts in funding are unfortunantly reducing the quality. The new block schedule can be good, but for some who have hard schedules it means that no matter how sick they are they have to be at school unless they are okay with a sever cut in their grade. Competitive and spiritful though.

Arts programs are the first to be cut in the Mac system. Creativity is severely hampered as most faculty feel the need to use Christian-based principles to manage behavior and school functions. As far as a well-rounded public school, McMinnville is not this. The teachers that are decent, are very decent and were able to motivate myself as few college teachers have been able to. Also be careful with the motto, 'If you go to Mac High, be prepared to be babysitted.' This motto rings true not only in the classroom but in school functions. For the most part the administration is a joke, consisting of Overall, graduate early and get out of there.

McMinnville High school does a great job with its studends. The only problem there is, is that they need to start treating the students more like adults. Other then that, great teachers, great coaches, great staff.

McMinnville High School has very little arts, and or after school programs. Along with the fact most activies that should be after school, the kids are giving up thier lunchtime, so many student are unable to take advantage of them. The homework load seems to be about 30 min. to 2 hours for each class. I understand from my child that some teachers cannot control thier classes as today were she was unable to get all the instruction for what the homework was about. this is not the first time. i have had students from this school tell me this. i have called the school to let them know about classes totally out of control with children climbing book shelves, wraping string across between the chair to trip other students, throwing things up in the lights, all while the teacher is in the classroom... totally unexceptable.

McMinnville High School has some good teachers and some there just to collect a paycheck. On the whole my son has been happy there. The administration strives to improve. However, I'm not certain they are going in the direction I would. They need to foster more self-direction and motivation, instead of cottling them and treating them like babies. After all, the objective is for them to function as adults and survive and thrive on their own upon graduation. They need to be allowed by parents and administration to make mistakes, yet teaching them how to keep themselves safe. This is all part of a healthy learning experience and part of growing up to be mature responsible adults. I'd send my other kids to McMinnville High school if I had to.
