This is the best school in both Hood River and Wasco County. My children are doing very well in this environment. You should consider yourself fortunate to get your children in this program.

Classroom size is almost perfect. First and second grade classes have 18 students, third and fourth have 22 (ideally it wouldn't go over 20) and fifth and sixth grade classes 20. Teacher's have more time to focus on each child, therefore ensuring that no one falls thru the cracks on either side of the spectrum, kid's who need more assistance as well as students who need more of a challenge get the attention they need. Most teachers at Mosier really try and teach to the students instead of to the class. Those teachers make our school extra special.

Mosier Community School provides a wonderful experience for my children, and a terrific education that they wouldn't receive at any other school. The blended classrooms work well and it's terrific that the older kids in the school are mentors to the younger kids at school. They all get along so well, and it teaches them terrific social skills.

I love the plays! (my daughter made me write that) But honestly, the twice a year plays are some of the best free Made In Mosier Entertainment! Mrs Harmon writes the script and encorporates fun songs...not your typical Winter and Spring performances.

Mosier is the best school because the parents care about their kids and about making the most of rural life in a modern way.

The 2 best points for Mosier Community School are the great staff and class/school size. It's not as alternative as it could be nor as they tout, and I think there should be more communication. I wish the kids started w/ science at an earlier age and that they didn't push reading for kindergartners. I love the environmental science that they incorporate.

I am so happy to have my grandson now attending Mosier school. I can see so much growth and change in him in such a short time. The school and its staff are truly in 'touch' with those with special needs and seem to truly care. I hope for the best for the Mosier school. I hope to be a resident in Mosier in the very near future and be able to participate in more after school activities and maybe work in the garden(s)!!! Thanks so much to all.

mosier is more of a family effort. There are great teachers and programs available including sports and recreational activities. Communication is a key factor in Mosier's success and they keep all lines open. Over all Mosier is one of the best school's that I have been involved with.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
