this school is a horable school. teachers tend to not care about students. The worst is always expected which is not a way to teach a learning mind

I went to school here and graduated in 2007. I loved the small town feel and knowing everyone I went to school with. The teachers were caring and put their students needs first!! :D

My son will be a senior this year. There is no other school I would have him attend! I know many of the teachers and am involved with my son. I don't understand the poor reviews of some parents and wonder if they are parents. Especially the concern of 'too much discipline.' Gee! That's what I love about the school! Yes, there may be some financial trouble in the District but, isn't that true of most? They do what they can and think of the students first...that's what I look at as a positive!

In my experience I've found that a majority of the teachers at the school honestly care about the students and will work to the best of their ability to ensure their success. The school and the district are experiencing some hard times financially at the moment, but I appreciate their efforts to look beyond the money and do what's best for our kids. If there is a problem with the school, it is that more people in the community need to take a positive interest. It's our children, our community, and our school. Let's make it the best that we can!

South Umpqua high school is a terrible school. The school has too much disipline. The students cannot even wear hats in the winter to keep them warm. There are cameras that spy on our kids and they are too strict. Do not sent your kids here. They will hate it.

My son is a freshman at S.U.H.S. and I'm very happy with this school, the staff and the level of parent involvement. There are some 'trouble' kids as in every school but, coming from Southern Calif. as we did, not nearly the number as you would find in a big city school. I have found the school to be safe and very clean with a great staff who know the troublemakers and keep an eye on them. Sports programs are great! My son is on the golf team and what a treat for him to have a home course the caliber of the Myrtle Creek Golf Course! Go Lancers!

I am on my fifth child to go through this school. It is absolutely the poorest high school in my experience. The academics are terrible in that the administration allow kids to graduate without required classes. The teachers are among the poorest paid in the state. The special ed in the district is the poorest in the state. We just won on a complaint to the state about the special ed department. It is an awful school, and I would never recommend sending a child there.
