This school claims to be flexible and teach at a student's pace, accommodating a variety of learning styles to help children succeed... It's disappointing to say the least. Most of the teachers use "one size fits all" curriculum, holding smarter students back to keep the whole class together. Very little hands-on experience is provided. A few teachers put tremendous effort into designing a flexible curriculum, most prefer not to cater to those needs. If your child has issues with literacy, this school is NOT for them. While all of the teachers at this school are required to have masters degrees, it's obvious that some of them don't have degrees in what they teach. Younger students are exposed to things they aren't ready for, socially and academically, older students feel crowded and babied. A few teachers are intimidated by the older students and have trouble enforcing rules, or go overboard and treat students like convicts. Most of the families attending are VERY christian, which is great if you're christian. But anything that doesn't strictly adhere to their beliefs is savagely attacked by students and parents alike, for instance the GSA was met with great hostility. Terrible.
An amazing environment where the kids can have an educational program that fits their needs. No where else can you find a school of this caliber. A BIG Thumbs up!
ACA is a wonderful school with the most caring staff. ACA is really a family. The students can get really involved in what they learn be cause the charter school is centered around personalized learning. The students want to be there. The k-12 dynamic gives the younger students something to aspire to and makes the older kids want to be role models. ACA is teacher administered student contracted proficiency assessed supervised study. Tonight is my graduation from Alliance Charter Academy. I am proud to say that I got my school nearly 5000 dollars in grant founds with the help of my Education Specialist. I love ACA!
This is a wonderful school for students who are not succeeding in the mainstream system. The school is designed to be combined with some homeschooling by the parents. Teachers are compassionate and interested, parents are (by design) highly involved. Students are in multi-grade classrooms. Wide selection of classes in the arts, P.E., music.
ACA offers students so many opportunities that normal public schools would not be able to. Not only the diverese range of classes, college credit opportunities, and way more individualized attention, there is an over all pleasant atmosphere that makes the school feel like a big family.
