This used to be the best school for children with special needs. Now they just provoke children until they lash out in an autistic episode so they can suspend them. Some how they didn't even know that my child had an IEP plan. The whole office and support staff is new except fort two people. It is obvious that no one is trained in the PBIS method that they claim to use. They reward the "good" kids who bulky my child and punish her for trying to learn social skills.
This school has changed since when my kid was in kindergarten... The cafeteria had bloody chicken, expired milk, and ice chunks in the milk. The duty teachers questioned kids why they were running, (in the grass and barkchips) HELLO!' KIDS RUN AT RECESS. They once glanced at a kid and they said something like "Fat and ugly" they purposefully humiliate and hate certain kids. AND THEY TALK ABOUT THEIR BOYFRIENDS AND ONLINE DATING IN FRONT OF THE KIDS. The education is okay overall, and they are very good with the special needs kids.
We had two children at Terra Linda and were very satisfied with the schooling. Our kids were top performers and we were initially concerned by Terra Linda's test scores in comparison with nearby schools. However, Terra Linda teachers have provided teaching experience that was almost customized to our kids' levels. This was done through smaller study groups and through programs like IXL for math or Accelerated Reader for reading that allow each student to progress at his or her level and pace. So, it's worth it to keep in mind that test scores represent the averages for the entire student population at the school and are not indicative of individual student's performance.
