madison itself is not bad. there are good people there, but with my experience , nothing really good comes from there. most of people i know there are not the best people.i did not want to go to this school and i regret going. if it would add a few more courses and straighten up its students it would be fine.

The speech program (under my favorite teacher, Gonzo) is the only thing that worked in conquering my shyness. I developed confidence and made great friends.

Madison, often described as 'ortland's best kept secret', is filled with kind, warm-hearted students from families whose origins run the spectrum - Tibet to Thailand, Somalia to Serbia. We're a diverse community, and also the primary location of at least two recent movies (the film Twilight, as well as Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park). Even Hollywood loves us!

As an alumni I am excited and proud to have my teen attend Madison High. Its population is small but its heart is big! We have an amazing group of young adults working hard and taking pride in their achievements. They are willing spirits with heart and determination. They can be anything they wish and for some they wished to be educators and return to their alma mater. That dedication to our community is evident in all our teachers. We are lucky to have such a caring staff guiding our youth. Don't let the Great Schools rating fool you - we are a hidden treasue. And shhh...we are the best kept secret in the district!!

It's very diverse. We have a lot of great kids with unique characters. Even though we aren't that populated, our sports take a toll, but our kids still work hard every single day. In the class,

My son is starting his 3rd year at Madison and overall we've had a very positive experience. The teachers and administrators at Madison are very committed and caring. Academically, Madison is on the rise, class sizes are fairly small, the school is adding additional AP classes every year, and the AVID program provides solid support for students intent on getting to college. There are lots of extracurricular activities at Madison to suit a wide range of interest. The school has some great coaches and a new music teacher who doing some great work with aspiring student musicians. Madison is well on it's way to being one of Portland's top schools. It has a lot to offer and due to it's small size, students can get the classes the want in uncrowded classroom with teachers and adminstrators who know who they are.

I have gone to Madison for 3 years, and there are so many activities you can get involved in. I am involved on journalism, a program that I love. People often forget that the newspaper is probably the best forms of communication at this school. People look down on this school because is doesn't have too much money, but look at the paper, it is great and we do have great things to say. I was scared about going to this school, but you really have to get past that and see that Madison is what the world looks like. The world is filled with people that speak different languages, with different backgrounds too, that is why Madison is so great, because it prepares your child for the real world, they aren't sheltered.
