the principle seems to be the major problem there. in fact she punishes the kids there for any problem regardless of time lapses after the fact. for example a child beat up another child and she punishes the child. then a few weeks go by she decides oh the punishment wasn't enough have to call the parent and inform them i decided to go ahead and charge them with more punishment stay in office, suspend or whatever works at the time, even though that child has been very good over the course of the few weeks and has been no trouble at all. I call that double jeopardy!! In a court of law the judge would throw out the case and declare a mistrial! otherwise classes and teachers great! WORSE principle ever!!!

It's funny that everyone's children are doing much better, yet the principal seems to be a problem. I had the pleasure of working with her at the school she worked at before Davis, and saw the kind of results that can come from a community that cares about its students education. The problem that I see here is there are no parents anywhere in the school except in the office when dealing with some sort of problem. Teachers and principals can only do so much, and the fact of the matter is, your principal is literally losing sleep over your children...are you? Look at the size of your pta versus before she came. Look at the test results on this site, before she came. Look at Reynolds school district, the superintendent, and what is really going on, concerned parent. Actually, just get involved!

My youngest son has gone to Davis since the 1st grade and is now about to graduate the 5th grade and move on to middle school. He has ADHD and is difficult at times, but this school has been great with him. It upsets me that they have such a low rating, my son is top of his class and has not lacked for anything during his time at Davis. I do feel the school could use a new principal, she just isn't doing the job in my opinion. I have 3 kids and of all the elem. schools that we have been to this school is by far the best and I wouldn't change a thing. The staff and teachers are wonderful, they believe in helping the kids not just pushing them aside.

Our child is a speacial needs student. He is autistic and diabetic. This school has been wonderfull for him. Since his speach is delayed it works great. A lot of his class mates are learning English at the same level he is. The teachers have been wonderful, working with us and coming up with real creative ways to deal and handle his special needs. We feel very blessed to have found this school for our son. We didn't always have such wonderful people helping our son out. It was very stressful for us. We were out of ideas on how to help him and it didn't seem like his teacher wanted to deal with a special needs student. But when we came to Davis, everyone was so willing and eager to help. It has been wonderful!

3rd year for my 8yr old daughter. She loves the school and I have found it interesting how classes are done-- almost like a mini college.Kids are very friendly which is a reflection of dedicated and able staff. I help here and there -mainly with my child who strugles a bit with quick pace interaction. But I have seen improvements thru out year and end of year dramatic improvements and moral. All in all i was worried - renyolds dist- at first 2 yrs as to ability of school to get done impossable task of educating so many bi-lingual children in each class-- but has turned into a wealth of cultural knowledge for the kids - and an outlook to a beter future in relations from my view for our next generations. The children attending are eager to understand and having a good time being a Davis Dragon! -- i was raised in Centennial Dist.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon.
