Problems all the way around! Had problems from the first day my daughter had kindergarten. Office staff had no answers to any questions. The bus driver told me he would not put his own kids on the bus he drove. My daughter was not taught math or reading. It only lasted a few months then we moved to a new district to allow her the education she needs.
The bully problem here is ignored all the way up the food chain. When our student had problems with bullies we told him to follow the handbook, not to defend himself because of the zero tolerance fighting policy. He went to teachers and aides and nothing happened! Seems that the bullies know the students can't fight back for fear of being expelled. No one cares! Do I teach my student to fight back and risk his expulsion, or tell him to just endure? No, there is a better way! Oregon allows you to pull your student and enroll them in online public school. If your child is being bullied, do what we did with this pathetic excuse for a school. FIRE THEM. Hudson Park just doesn't seem to care about the safety of their students.
Huge issue with people of color and diversity overall. Needs tolerance and diversity training. A "CELIBRATE DIVERSITY" sign in each hall would be a good start.
Nothing wrong at all with Hudson Park, it is a great school. Young parents these days expect the school to raise their kids, so when the school does a poor job of that, they complain. IF your child has basic manners, will follow rules and will mind in class, he or she will have an excellent experience here both academically and socially. IF they are bullies or are doing poorly, then mom/dad, it's your time to step up. That's a family matter. Don't blame it on the teachers, who, by the way, DON'T get paid anything near what they are worth.
Math department is very good but that is where the school ends. Kids are out of control and teachers out of touch. It seems the teachers are just their for a pay check and one that is way to high for what they do.
If we could do it over again we would not have enrolled them in this school. The education is fair, the students are bullies and there seems to be no regard for the rules. Both of our children went to this school with above average scores. During teacher conferences we are told they are intelligent but bored. The education is not stimulating. My 3rd grader did not turn in her home work for 5 month and we never received a call. This has happened more than once. We are looking at an alternatives to this school for the 08-09 school year. .
