I have one child currently attending Reedsport Community Charter School. Our community passed a $10 million dollar maintenance bond to repair and upgrade our two schools. All construction work has been completed and you can tell how much staff and students take pride in their newly refurbished schools. Charter School staff members know all the students by name and I love that about our school. For such a small school the Charter School offers a pretty good selection of courses through their partnership with the community. Some of the new classes offered all year were Health Occupations, Culinary classes, and Careers in Child Education. The Charter school also offered an amazing variety of classes during this year's Braves Session. My son loved the break from his regular schedule. The Braves Session courses included Geocaching, History of Sports, History of Rock and Roll, Flower Arranging, Rocketry, and about a dozen other classes. Our school is doing wonderful things and I am truly excited by all the changes I see taking place...and more importanly so is my son! He can hardly wait to see what kind of neat classes he gets to take next Braves Session.
I have had 2 children in this school system from Kindergarten up. Wouldn't have it any other way. I like the small scool atmosphere and the big school offerings such as athletic opportunities, Brave's sessions, and on-line classes.
Now called Reedsport Community Charter School, this school has made huge changes to its facility, its school climate, and its curriculum. The school itself is gorgeous, and as a charter school it now offers my kids great curriculum opportunities through its between-terms Braves Session and its registered teachers from the community. The principal is outstanding and I'm looking forward to seeing what additional changes it makes in the coming months. This is a school to watch!
Reedsport High school has been an excellent environment for my teenage children. It is a small school with a caring staff. While the school does need some TLC, the community supports this in many ways. In all Reedsport is a small, close knit town. It takes a village to raise a child and I'm glad mine are here.
My husband and I have been very dissapointed in this school, it seems that detention is given out for almost any reason, and stupid reasons at that. The school needs alot of constructional work, they just received a grant to help with that and it is much needed. In my opinion the school needs to reformulate a lot of things. One thing I did like is the fact they have edline so I can stay in close contact with the teachers and send quick emails when I have questions
