Like everything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. My child has had many more opportunities at this school than possible at any other school in the area. The following are just some of the opportunities my student has had while attending. 1) wide range of AP/CC course work allowing students to participate in college-level course work. 2) they offer German as a foreign language. In addition the high school participates in GAPP (German-American Partnership Program). My student spent 6 weeks immersed in Germany's culture this summer living with the selected host family 3) the only high school in the area that offers a marching band program. This program is currently an 'in-work' process after a few bumps in the road 4) Great sports programs, although many times quite competitive and participation seems at times limited to the very talented.

Roseburg High School has a wonderful special education department for the low amount of funding that they receive. They really need more funding to provide for their students. Computer systems with educational software that is geared for the age group of students and their varying limitations educationally, would be of the utmost help in my opinion. My daughter, Sarah, has already graduated from the program, but her teacher, Fawn Shiltz, was one of the best teachers that she has ever had during her many years in school from age 3 - 21. I am hoping that you will assist them with their need for more support.

This is probably the second-worst school I have ever attended. It is nothing but a bunch of drug-addicts.

The district motto is whatever it takes, but they do almost nothing to help kids here. Most of the time you'll find teachers behind their desks playing computer games or reading the newspaper while students are basically teaching themselves. I was so glad to get my kids out of the roseburg schools

Fair, teacher access time before school when many teachers don't go to their classroom before school and bus riders don't get to school early enough to see them at that time.

This school is excellent. It's teachers are careing and understanding. The atmosphere is amazing. The campus is beautiful. They have a full range of electives to choose from. I have never felt safer in a school enviroment.

About the tests

In 2009-2010 Oregon used the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 10 in reading and math; in grades 4, 7 and 10 in writing; and in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science. The OAKS is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Oregon. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
