The school does what it can with the Hispanic population that likes to bully, fight, and play the " no habla english" especially when there is a new twacher, substitute, or because they feel like they need to be a punk. With a new principal, it will be interesting to see the interaction between parents and staff.
A teacher has been holding all the students in for a few minutes after the bell rings for them to go to lunch because 5 students continue to talk. I told my child to just leave then if he is not talking so he has time to eat. Those kids causing problems should be held accountable and not the entire class. She has zero integrity for acting towards the entire class instead of the few like she should. Children had lied to security, which my son did not and stood his ground, with the truth...he was not punished-THANKFULLY. The overwhelming swarm of hispanic, non English speaking, give me for free kids are problems with their fights, bullying, disrespectful attitudes.
This school is a train wreck. The principal takes no accountability, the office staff is indifferent and too busy talking to each other to help you, the teachers refuse to respond to emails.... train wreck. So many fights, threats, bullying...everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. I've had good, productive contact with one teacher in the past two years...not very good numbers.
Stephens is a great school. Their focus is on student learning and this focus is created from the Principal and passed on through the dedicated teaching staff. Every staff member builds great relationships with students and they have built an extensive academic support system and after school activities for kids to be involved with. This is a great school - great Principal / Assistant Principal, great and dedicated teachers, and fantastic students.
Stephens is a hard working school - it is not perfect but there are many wonderful people working hard to make a difference in the lives of children. For those who have negative things to say - why not help us to change the areas that need changing? Parents - come to parent meetings & get involved ... students - encourage your friends and others to be kind to one another - quit finger pointing and work together to make Stephens great!
I am a student at Stephens! I think it's a great school!!!! I like how teachers stop in the middle of class and help students! My favorite teachers are Mrs.Gering, Mrs.Paul, and Mrs.Workman. I personaly LOVE this school! I am moving away from that school and I am very sad! :(
Stephens is too big! The students pick on other students and nothing is ever done about it! The teachers know it's going on, but they just turn their backs until the student comes to them. The teachers are very unfair about schoolwork too! They give extra homework to the kids who don't talk, just because a few students were talking! The teachers always have the option to send students out of the room but they never do! So they punish the good students for their mistakes! Do NOT send your student here!
School is huge! Too many kids...not enough teachers...kids are allowed to tease and pick on children and nothing is done about it. Lots of issues with these kids on the buses too. Not a lot of interaction between teachers and parents...they only call after your kids are behind in work...I kept telling them to contact me if even 1 assignment was missing...but no one called!!! Even offered email contact but nothing.
