We adore Sherwood Charter School (formerly M.I.T.C.H.). We have a new principal as of 2011/2012 who is much more formal and organized. She has hired some great new teachers and a part-time school therapist who is quite busy in her limited time at the school. The middle school is fully functioning, with the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders sorted by ability for core classes (English, science, and reading) then with their grade peers for the rest of the day (PE, social studies, health, etc.). The middle school also has a monthly 100% club outing for kids to succeed in their schoolwork. The lower grades have music and art. There is a band group as well. No cafeteria (though we do have a Subway lunch program) and very little playground equipment, but the kids don't seem to mind. The only problem we have is parent involvement with fundraising activities. We had to cancel the 2012 Auction (our biggest fundraiser of the year) because no one volunteered to chair the planning. Hopefully, we will still meet our monetary goals as we only get 80% of the public school funding and must do a lot of fundraising to make up the difference.

The teachers and staff are outstanding, the curriculum is great and the parents are the best volunteers. We love the uniforms and no school on Fridays!

My son has gone to the MITCH school since Kindergarten and it was amazing what he has learned. He came out of Kindergarten reading everything! They have a maximum of 22 kids per class which is very nice and the teachers and other staff know each kid individually. The curriculum is top notch!
