We are new to this district this year, moving from one of the largest districts in Oregon. My youngest son is in 8th grade and had a very hard time in 7th at his old school, all leading up to an expulsion at the end of the year because of a bullying incident, where HE WAS THE ONE BEING BULLIED! After finishing out his 7th grade year at an alternative school and then meeting with the administration in this district, he had had an amazing year so far. The teachers have been supportive and fantastic and he made honor roll for the first quarter. This is my child who has always struggled and has an an IEP since preschool for speech, writing and reading. His current IEP only addresses writing and they are very accommodating, without making it too easy for him. His advisor is always making contact with me to keep me up to date and see if I have any questions. I've very excited to see the success and confidence levels he will be taking to high school.

This school has good teachers, but the school itself is falling apart. The lockers locks don't work to well. There is more portables then class rooms and the track is so basd that you can't really run on it. The staff is nice and we have a dance every few months for fundraiser, but it still isn't enough! The school needs help!

This school is falling apart and needs help. No One is willing to donate and we need a new gym because all of us cannot even fit in it. The bleachers are broken and prone to hurt some one.

I am a parent and my son had a terrible time reading and was several years behind. He can into the Middle School in 7th grade and also he struggles, he is reading. He will actually read in class out load!! The teachers are wonderful and really do care about their students. The sports program is really moving forward as well. I am glad that I chose St. Helens Middle School for my son.
