We've had our child at MITCH for 4 years now and continue to be very happy with the academic excellence and rigorous curriculum that the use. This students at this school are backed by amazing parents that support the staff and school around every bend. Although MITCH is in a time of transition, things are moving in a very positive direction.
I have had my children at this school of excellence for 6 years. They consistently are learning material that I didn't tackle until I was in high school. It continues to be rigorous and outstanding on all regards. Unfortunately there are a few parents that don't understand what true commitment to academic excellence means and they have created issues for the school. I would challenge anyone with issues with the school to try to find a better school elsewhere. Go team MITCH. Let's keep the focus on the kids and leave the rest of the agendas at the door.
This once wonderful school is now being ripped apart at the seams. Two amazing teachers have resigned in the past 4 months. The administration is structured like a dictatorship with the wonderful teachers and parents having no voice. While the academics are amazing, it is not worth the heartache of being a part of such a sufficating institution.
I love this school! My son has grown by leaps and bounds at his first year in MITCH. I have to say at first it was really difficult to adjust to the quality and quantity of work the expect the students to do, but as we are nearing the end of his first grade year I am so happy we made the switch. His mind is being opened to so many different avenues, he has more opportunities for learning then he did at his previous public school. I compare him to other first graders and I know that he is receiving the best education possible. The teachers are fantastic and the schedule is really great for positive learning. I love MITCH and will recommend it anyone!
I have had children at this school for several years. The teaching is of highest quality, and the environment and the values are excellent. Our children, and the children of our friends thrive there, and are consistently above average academically. Regarding the negative reviews here; one parent complains they had to help their child with homework; if you're mainly interested in having someone else do all the work for you, then MITCH may not be not for you. Excellent education requires parental involvement. The other two negative reviews appear to express the frustration of parents who had a bad experience and withdrew. That can happen anywhere, but is the exception at MITCH. Student retention at this school is very high, which unfortunately makes it difficult for new students to get in. Not one student was withdrawn from my oldest's class this year.
My children have attended MITCH for six years. They love school and have a passion for learning. There is a heavy work load but I believe MITCH has given my children the skills to succeed in any environment in the future. They feel the teachers care for them and listen to their opinion. They feel safe and important. The students at MITCH are very proud of their school and all they have accomplished. I highly recommend MITCH if you are serious about education and giving your child a strong early foundation in learning.
Mitch has problems with the lottery system that has gone unchecked by the board. The pricipal has her agenda and does not take parent input for concerns. It's 'my way or the highway' and very little accountability. Good Luck.
The worst school my children have ever attended. Biased, uncaring and unfair are the best three words to describe the teachers and principle other then they will always listen, but never hear you. We pulled our kids from this school mid year, it became so bad. My children literally left this school hating school and teachers. I unfortunately see therapy in their future
My son has been attending MITCH for 5 years now and has gotten a fantastic education. Homework is heavy, but it is a small price to pay for really grasping the knowledge. The smaller class sizes help one on one teacher/student learning. MITCH gives a public arena for those who would be considering home schooling. The only drawback would be the lack of permanant facility. Even with that drawback I highly recommend MITCH.
We have just transferred to this Charter school and although it is much more of a drive, it is well worth it....the curriculum is intensive multisensory phonics, Saxon Math, excellent teachers committed to educating the whole child, catered wholesome lunches that are low fat and low sodium, uniforms, air filter systems in each classroom. MITCH has impressive test scores and is really a front runner in charter schools. They are currently meeting in an old school building but hope to build a 'farm school' atmosphere on a 5 acre plot in the area, where children can learn about the earth and environment as well as core academics. the philosophy is Core Knowledge (based on ED Hirsch) What your 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. needs to know. My daughter loves it!
