My daughter is shy and not outgoing. This school has been so welcoming and warm and made her feel that she fits right in with the rest of the students. The leadership at HCHS is outstanding and always accessible to parents. The teaching staff is seasoned and exceptional. We have experienced 3 other christian schools and HCHS is by far the best.

We love the high school! Our oldest daughter attended the school and had a wonderful experience. She had opportunities as a freshman to get involved from right away. She was able to take college credit math and business courses to earn 21 hours of college credit before she even stepped foot on a college campus. Our second daughter is a freshman now and she loves her time at Horizon so far. She is excited for the girl sports that are returning to Horizon. As a parent s the part that excited us are those college credits and the number expanding each year! At this point our second daughter can her science, at least one of her college English courses, a business course, and because she is advanced in math she will come out with 6 math courses. If your child wants to explore drama then Horizon is the Place for you! Mrs. V is GREAT! The productions she can put are top notch! If you are looking for a place for your student be get involved take college credit courses in a Christian environment then our family recommends having your student spend a day shadowing a Horizon student and let them get a feel for the school themselves. Ours both have and this helped them decided.

If you are looking for a school that is heavy on sports, but light on academics, this is the place for you. Horizon Christian works hard to set low academic expectations so that student-athletes are given minimal challenge, keeping them eligible for sports. Teachers who push students intellectually are flushed out of the system while the school maintains teachers that spend a week showing television shows such as Malcolm in the Middle. Their adherence to the Assembly of God's anti-intellectual, touchy-feely Christianity is equally present, lacking entirely depth of thought, theology, or meaningful engagement in their Bible instruction. While their chapels can be emotion-invoking, they typically lack anything beyond shallow teaching, forfeiting the opportunity to actually help students develop lasting roots in the Christian faith. The bottom line is that Horizon resembles a small, Protestant version of Jesuit: strong dedication to sports with minimal effort given to meaningful Christian theology or academic rigor. I would not recommend this school to anyone who wishes their student to do anything beyond being a good athlete.

Horizon Christian High School has given my son the tools to develop academically, spiritually, socially and physically and has helped him to become a confident and strong young man. The teachers really go the distance to support and challenge each student to be the person they were created to be. Outside the classroom, the physical training is excellent and the concern for the surrounding community is encouraged as well.

i've sent two girls to this school (and my two older kids to the local public high school). What they give up in class selection is more than made up for by virtue of student/teacher ratio and the willingness of the teachers to go the extra mile to help students do their best. The SAT's were also very encouraging, being better than what we had experienced with my older two in public. The principal has been excellent in helping families with the college path. The small school atmosphere has been a pleasant surprise as well having experienced the 2,000+ school environment.

Daughter attended 2 years, excellent staff (administration personnel is outstanding) for most part. Limited course offerings as the school is very new. Four and one half stars!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
