The participation of the teachers and school staff is wonderful with the children. They really care and are turning out some smart kids. They care about our students and it shows.

I have 3 of my children in this school. The quality of their education is far from adequate. There seems to be no accountability. Rarely do I see homework and/or completed schoolwork brought home. There is also an inconistency in teacher competence. There are some great teachers and then there are incompetent teachers. The teachers definitely lack resources and support. As stated by another reviewer, parent involvement seems to be discouraged. Furthermore, the principle and office staff are as warm and welcoming as the Gestapo. The two stars that I have given are for the handfull of excellent teachers that give me a reason to send my kids there. Solution: Replace the Gestapo. Then give a voice to those competent teachers on how the school should be run.

I am highly concerned with the quality of teaching. My son is now in the 6th grade and has no clue how to write in cursive. Even if he returns a homework assignment in unfinnished he still gets a grade for just returning it.

This school is not supportive of parents involvement in any way and almost tries to discourage it

I am disturbed by my 3rd graders education. I moved from Jackson county Oregon when my daughter was in 1st grade. Once attending Waldport Elementary school she was no longer 'allowed' to use cursive - that she had been instucted on in her prior school. In 3rd grade now my child is in a class of mixed grades, 2 & 3 grade kids in one class being taught by a first year teacher. In order to makes things easier on the teacher all kids are basicly being taught at a second grade level. My third grade child is being robbed her education. I met with the teacher twice to discuss her sending home third grade work (was told to purchase my own 3rd grade work) and once with the principal to request my child be assigned another teacher but denied due to all other classes being full. I am moving !

I am greatly concerned as is everybody that has any involvement with this school, whether volunteer or parent. This school as well as this entire district has found itself in a dire situation. Without some accountability, soon our 35-40 student classes will be non existent. I have asked repeatedly to come in and volunteer much needed assistance in my childs classroom, however the teacher involved refused any help. How can our children get the education we pay for, when instructors who struggle providing proper education to 25 students, attempt to do the job with nearly 40 children, and refuse parental involvement or assistance of any kind. I am greatful however, that my child does like the teacher very much. Without improvement beginning immediately, I will relocating out of this district, the shame is that without serious improvement and quikly, there very well may be no schools left in this district to worry about.
