My Grandson is currently a student at Burchfield and I am very dissapointed in this school. The teachers are caring and seem to try to do their best but they seem to be limited by the schools administration as to providing the correct help to a child with special educational needs. After three years of parent teacher meetings, improper assessments, and slow to act administrators, this child is still being left behind!
My son started at Burchfield in first grade after a year in full day kindergarten at a nearby private school. I was so impressed with the level of learning that he received at Burchfield. He started off way behind everybody else because his kindergarten experience did not teach him much. The teachers at Burchfield did him assessment early in September and provided him with all the help that he needed to succeed. He worked hard and actually ended the year with 4 A's and 1 B+. He now loves school and learning and I have to thank the teachers at Burchfield for this.
The level of parent involvement at Burchfield is amazing. It is so nice to see that the school allows the parents to be so involved, it's very comforting. I couldn't be happier that my children attend this school. Both of my children struggled with reading and they offer a wonderful program to help the kids who a need a little extra.
Excellent school, programs, teachers. Good facilities. Excellent music, PE, and art programs. Active PTA.
I felt that at this school, the parental involvement was rather weak, the extracirricular activities struggled to stay-a-float, and playground equipment was rusty and unsafe for children. Teachers seemed disgruntled also.
I Went to burchfield from second grade to fourth grade. Throughout that time period I found the teachers kind. I had helped with the homecoming banner as one of the extra curricular activities. The Academic program was the best i culd have imagined. And the level of parent involvement was outstanding.
