Rude staff. Once your child has any behavioral issues, he/she is labeled for life. Inconsistent in following policies and/or in addressing issues with bullying.

Handles bullying effectively: Disagree

Very inconsistent. My son reported cases multiple times and nothing was done.

Effective school leaders: Agree

Principal is more professional than the staff, but needs to rein his staff in. When picking up my child, a majority of parents have nothing but complaints about the staff and ineffective communication.

Develops character: Neutral

Professionalism needs to be improved. Without this, they cannot develop characteristics such as integrity in their students. Please remember that you are writing to a child, not an adult when writing sarcastic messages. And even addressed to the parents, KIDS CAN READ!!!

Teacher effectiveness: Agree

- a
Not all are bad, so I agree, there are more effective teachers than non-effective. Their professional behavior is more lacking than their ability to teach.

Amount of homework: Disagree

Find a better way to let parents know what homework is every night. This school touts the use of a website that is supposed to list nightly assignments but if often blank. After months of checking I gave up. Then, my son missed 2 assignments and received a very snarky note from his teacher.

i was a student there last year and im in 4th grade and i had minor issues... the kids were very rude but the teachers were... GOOD. but other than that it was fine...

This school lacks in so many areas I will just mention a few. Due to large class size, many teachers cannot discipline and often resort to taking the child's recess away on a regular basis. The school district's focus on test scores (to keep funding) leaves teachers focusing on what is on those tests;therefore preventing them from focusing on the fundmental skills the children need to succeed in school, that are not on the PSSA, etc... The do have many programs to help children who need remedial services, but in my experience they do little to improve skills in Reading: Many teachers have admitted then have little to no time to let the children actually read during school hours. If your child needs extra help your best recourse is to hire a tutor, like Sylvan (and I might add expensive course), because at this school their so-called helpful programs will not get the job done.
