Marion-Walker Elementary is an awesome school. The teachers are extremely dedicated, caring, and professional. The parents are very supportive and involved. This teamwork and cooperation makes for great students and a positive educational environment. Don't let the teacher/student ration on this site mislead you. The actual class sizes are between 20 and 26 students. Not long ago, class sizes were above 30. Although not ideal for maximum learning, the staff and parents made the large class size work successfully. Now with new renovation and added classes, the smaller class sizes of low to mid 20's is much more productive and beneficial.

The school has just been expanded because there are more people moving into the area. The teachers and principle are great. We need every dollar we can get to update the classrooms and library.

Don't let the rural setting fool you: M-W provides for students and families alike a sense of community that is unmatched by anything else in the area--it likely rivals or exceeds that which could be found in many larger or more elite schools. Principal, faculty, and staff together create a true sense of school family. The highly active and knowledgable PTO helps to further instill a sense of school pride and belonging. While facilities have been a problem for many years, the current renovation and expansion project will leave the school with ample room for its 300 or so students. I would recommend this elementary school as the hands-down top choice for anyone looking to relocate to central Pennsylvania. This school is SO good that it is the primary hindrance to a possible relocation out of the area for my family.
