The school district needs to focus on hiring good teachers. The administration is so busy honoring all the favors they owe instead of hiring the better teacher. Age discrimination is a huge problem in the high school. It really make you wonder what is going on up there.

The one problem this school has is the student body. Most of us aren't driven to succeed. But, if they are, they're given excellent advice, oppurtunities, and even guidance. The guidance counselor at the high school, Ms. Downing, is supremely helpful to not only college-bound students, but to vocational students as well. The high has definitely had some improvements since Mr. Lammay, the principal, has become in charge. Wonderful, self-building programs have become a main part of the school, helping students to grow in ways different from an academic standpoint. Pennies for Patients, Rachel's Challenge, School's for Schools, and other programs help the student to realize the impact they can have. An excellent school, it ranks high for me.

Bentworth High School does everything possible to provide a sufficent learning environment. The student body, over 80 % of them do not care if they fail and they also do not care about passing tests. The teachers, all try to reach out to their students and help them in anyway. The school challenges those who needs the challenge. If you want to come to a school, Bentworth High school is a great choice.

I recently graduated from Bentworth High School and I am confident that I will do well in college. Many teachers try their hardest to teach and provide a challenging curriculum but it is because of lack of participation and laziness on the student s behalf, and lack of parent assistance that make our district look insufficient. I do not believe the administration should be involved in so many activities and should only worry about their own responsibilities. The 'administration' is the only weak-link in the district. The teachers and guidance counselor do a praiseworthy job. If any standards are not met, it is not because the teachers didn't prepare the students; it is because the students don't care. Ultimately, the parents upbringing of their children sets the path of their offspring. If the parents don't care, which so many don't, they are setting their children up for failure.

I am a concerned parent of 5 children attending bentworth school district. Bentworth needs to focus on providing our childern with a safe environment to learn. The school needs to involve the parents who are concerned, instead of blowing them off. The staff needs to treat all the kids the same instead of who they are and what their last name is. Kids would excel more with their studies and have a more pleasant school experience if the staff just did their job! i would not recommend anyone attend bentworth school district. I am not the only parent who has a problem. I have been in contact with several parents and they have the same concern, which again hasn't been addressed or the staff refuses to address the problem. Sincerely, greatly disappointed parent

My daughter graduated from Bentworth as the valedictorian of her class and entered one of the top colleges in the nation. During her first year of college she maintained a 4.0 GPA and was elected to the honor society as well as recognized on the national dean's list. She took some of her high school work to show her college professors and they commented that she was well prepared for college, especially by the high school chemistry teacher, Mrs Laslo. Bentworth may not have many of the opportunities that larger school districts can provide but I think the teachers and administrators do the best with what they have and the opportunities are there for those students who try to make their education a priority. The only thing I have had a problem with at Bentworth is the high level of nepotism in many areas.

I'm tired of being fed the line that the reason the school is doing so poorly is from lack of funding. How much does it cost to get a child to read on grade level? Or, how much does it cost to get a child to attend school everyday? It is things like lis that NCLB monitors. Stop passing the buck and call it what it is. Bentworth is doing poor because its doing poor and thats it. Stop using funding as a cure all.

Bentworth provides as much as possible with the funding provided. They are trying presently to meet the stadards set by NCLB, but are sruggling because of lack of funding, and impossible goals set by the government. Bentworth has creative and dedicated teachers who are constantly striving to help our students become productive members of society. Bentworth is a very small rural community that suffers from the inequity of public education funding in Pennsylvania.
