My daughter was new to Seton this year, not only was she welcomed with open arms by everyone, but she would and does come home happy and excited to be attending Seton. By the first parent teacher conference, which was within the first ten (10) weeks of the school year, her first grade teacher was well versed in my child s strengthens, weaknesses and personality traits. Her teacher also provided specific suggestions how to further challenge my daughter an example of the hands on personal education provided at Seton.
Seton Academy and the Aquinas program have been a true God send to our family. I do not know where our daughter would be if it were not for Seton Academy. We made a very specific decision to enroll our child at Seton. The Aquinas Program was one of the main reasons. However, along with that came the music and art programs, the great library, dedicated staff and the reinforcement of our beliefs. The Aquinas Program has been great for her. It gives her the extra help she needs. However, she also receives the extra push to do the work, because the staff knows my daughter and knows what she is capable of doing. The staff knows us too. The principal has been a great addition to our school. She has worked with the teachers, students, and parents to make our school a better place. She truly cares about the children and the best way for them to learn within the Catholic faith.
Seton Academy is a very good school with small classes, excellent teachers and great programs. The children come from good homes with a lot of parent involvement. Although small, this school does a great job of preparing the kids for high school. Our two girls (4th and 6th grade) have gone to this school since kindergarten and thorougly enjoy themselves and feel part of a family, I would recommend this school to anyone that is unhappy with theirs.
I have no complaints what so ever about this school, i am actually glad my 2 boys and soon 3rd son will be part of this small but amazing school. They take the time to get to know each childs needs academically. My kids are very happy to wake up every morning to go to school. They have the friendliest teachers, and staff. They listen to the needs of every child to help them succeed. The fact that at the same time they teach them to be better human beings and to treat each other with respect is a plus. Our Family loves this school and we hope they continue to educate kids the way they have til now.
Seton Academy has so much to offer its students-a nurturing environment, a friendly and experienced staff, and a challenging curriculum. We are very fortunate to have a school of this caliber in our area. I highly recommend it to everyone!
I love Seton Academy for my children because the school is unique in so many ways. The curriculum at Seton Academy is cutting edge, by far surpassing that of public schools, thanks to our principal, a doctor of education (one of only a few in the entire diocese, ) so I know that my children are being challenged. My kids truly learn, they don't just memorize facts for a standardized test like in public schools. Also, our excellent teachers not only do an exceptional job challenging our children to be better, but also embody the principals we expect in a Catholic school. Finally, the small class size allows individuality and personal attention, resulting in far less distractions or disturbances than other schools. I would and do recommend this wonderful school to any parent I meet.
We have had a fantastic experience at Seton Academy! Our local elementary school is a consistent low performer, which was the driving factor in our investigating other options. We have been welcomed into Seton with open arms, and I have been so pleased with my child's progress academically!
Wonderful school with amazing teachers! Seton is committed to educating the whole child mind and spirit and in creating a loving environment in which the children can grow in God's grace! We also have a full time kindergarten program! Schedule a tour and see for yourself! My family is blessed to be a part of it! Our school produces leaders of tomorrow that are strong in faith, education, morals, and values. All year long we do things for our community, and teach our children to share God's goodness. Our children have such passion and enthusiasm for learning.
I am a grandparent of students at Seton and also a product of Catholic school education. The school's class size is a great advantage because the teachers are very dedicated. I have always felt that Catholic school teachers will give more than 100% to teach our children because they believe in what they are doing. As far as the principal is concerned, she is tough on academic matters but isn't that what we want for our children to succeed.
Our daughter entered into 2nd grade at Seton Academy this year and has been a student at Seton since Kindergarten. At first, we decided to look into numerous private schools in our area because we were not all impressed with our local public elementary school. Seton was the first school on our list to visit, although other school visits were planned, we were sold the very moment we met her Kindergarten teacher and knew we were dealing with someone whom truly cared for her students, teaching was just not a job to her, this and the fact that the class sizes were so small were the sole reasons for choosing Seton. The moment we walked through the doors, we were greeted with warm smiles and open arms, not only the staff but also students and parents as well. We are very pleased with the overall school environment and the strong emphasis on academics. In my opinion though, the most impressive aspect of Seton would hands down be the amount of parent involvement, it is so comforting to know that the majority of the parents here at Seton want and choose to be there to support not only our students but, our school as a whole. Seton Academy is not just a school, it s a family.
We loved this school! My granddaughter attended Seton Academy for 8 years and has transitioned beautifully into high school. I found the principal, teachers and staff to very involved in the school as well as the students. It was the perfect environment for her. My grandson is now attending and loves school. I love the small class sizes and the original draw for us was the all day kindergarten. It worked out perfect.
After sending five children to this school, I cannot imagine sending my child anywhere else. Teachers have changed, principals have come and gone, but the overall sense of family and commitment to education has not wavered. We currently have an amazing group of teachers, a principal who is working hard to make sure our children and teachers have every resource available to them, and (as always) parents who genuinely care about their children's education. Couple that with small class size and a faith driven belief in every child's value and you have a great school.
I was a little worried about my child going to a public school with a large class size. Not to mention, the public school in my area is not very highly regarded. Seton Academy gave me a fantastic alternative. The classes are small, so that the teacher can actually TEACH the students, not just prep them for a standardized test. The new principal is guiding the school to reach new heights academically and I believe that my son will be better prepped for the next level having attended this school.
Last year I was pleased with the academic attention my boys received. The older was in the Aquinas program and is now 100% mainstreamed. Much of this was due to his determination & the new principal s willingness to accommodate his needs. Twice she adjusted the class schedules to include him in the regular ed classes. He did find the behaviors in the Aquinas program frustrating as he is a serious student. The Aquinas program is for students with learning disabilities and not social skill problems. My younger son initially struggled with the adjustment, but half way through the year he made friends. He is a regular ed student & really liked his teacher. As parents we were pleased with the small class sizes that allowed the teacher to hold him accountable in regards to working at his full potential. On the down side we are not Catholic. Attending mass is mandatory & we do not agree with all that was preached. We discuss the differences of ideas and values at home when they have questions. Self-expression seems to be hampered, though this may be a characteristic of parochial schools as they wear uniforms, no jewelry, makeup & boys have to have their hair cut a certain way.
Whoever reviewed Seton Academy on July 23, 2012 hit the nail right on the head. I will say that the principal has sucked the life out of our school!! and we have lost some of the best teachers due to her outrageous requirements. Who really cares what font is on an exam heading!!!!! The warmth & family atmosphere is gone from Seton Academy and with the current principal in charge it will never be back!!
I have just attended a school function at Seton Academy for my children. I was very impressed with the staff and work my children are doing. They are in a faith-filled community where there is a strong commitment to academics. It is evident that the teachers are there because they care about the WHOLE child. As a parent, that's a top priority. I love the smaller class sizes and the individual attention my children receive on a daily basis. I highly recommend!
Fabulous small school with serious academic program. Highly recommended. Class size is small enough that each child gets individual attention, teachers are there because they truly care about the students. It's a gem of a school and not enough people know it. I consider our family to be lucky to have Seton Academy in our lives.
The only reason we sent our children to this school was because of a very special Kindergarten teacher. Unfortunately, the majority of the other teachers really are NOT that special. Add that to the fact that the affiliated church is only concerned about money ( I was turned away by the monsignor himself because I didn't "contribute" enough to my previous church! Unreal!). The new principle is not at all what Seton needed. She is really not kid friendly at all! Hello, this is a K-8 school, kids are your job! This school has done nothing but go down hill very rapidly over the last few years. As of next year neither of our children will be attending Seton.
The first few years at the school was excellent, however constant turnover of principals, teachers and administrative staff has left an undesirable environment. Due to the lack of experence some of the upper grade teachers have, children suffered academically. I would not recommend this school with the current facility in place.
Since transferring my children to another Catholic school in the area, I have realized the lack of academic challenge that exists at Seton. My children are doing well at their new schools but have to play "catch up" to children in their grades. A big factor in our leaving Seton was the change in principal. The new principal lacked certification, effective communication skills, and good leadership abilities. Staff changes resulted and happened frequently within the school year. It became too chaotic and the leadership void was evident. The more experienced teachers were valiant in their efforts to continue to provide a good academic environment, but were challenged by a lack of direction.
