I am a former student at this school. I have been to this school ever since I was in kindergarten all the way to the eighth grade. All I can say is that this school is awesome. I love the students and staff members, although they change too much. They help you when you need it. They don't ignore you. They are also great listeners. Many parents might think this school is not great for their children. But guess what? Your children are the ones that make their experiences a good one. This school provides good education in religion and many other subjects. They are many fun events such as Springfest, where everyone could be involved. Throughout the school years, I had my plentiful laughs with the teachers and students and learned a lot. Good Shepherd School helps prepare your children for high school. I'm in high school already and I'm right breezing through it. Trust me, you won't regret coming to this school.
Kindergarten program is top notch! Nurturing, creative and fun! Encourages a love for learning and school. Very special year - I am glad we decided to send our child here. Small, caring community.
My children have attended Good Shepherd School since kindergarten and have received a top notch education. I myself am a product of parochial schools in Philadelphia and appreciate that my children can also have a superior academic experience while being able to grow in their faith at the same time.
I and my husband have together 24 years of catholic school experience. What I remember from a Catholic School education is love and devotion from the religious community that taught there. Devotion to the student. Our experience shattered after years of trying to find a teacher that would think outside of the box, take extra time to cultivate a child that didn't fit the cookie cutter mold, and to be perfectly honest this school does not foster loving caring relationships on the norm. Yes, the education far exceeds the public school systems currently. But what type of moral beings are they raising? Children are verbally berated by teachers in front of the students. Teachers are untouchable and not held accountable for their actions. My son is now in public school and we realize his education requires a little more hands on maintenance there, a work in progress so to speak, but his heart and mind are healthy once more. I would consider Catholic School education just not at Good Shepherd School in Camp Hill, PA.
Negativity is the tone of this school. The teachers and parents are elitists and many are mean spirited. The Christian role model is just not there. I pulled my children out. Most of the teachers in the school have kids that attend. It's a strange place to be. A particular group of parents run the school.
Good Shepherd School is a great place for kids to learn! The teachers are committed to helping the students to do their best work. My husband and I wanted a Catholic education for our daughters together with the best academic environment that we could find-- we've found this at GSS! The parents/families are very involved in their children's education and with the PTO. It's a great place to go!
Simply the best! That is all that needs to be said. Our two children will benefit a life time as a result of the efforts of Father Helwig, Mr. Bowe and others. Thank you. wjk
Our son currently attends Good Shepherd and it has been a very positive experience for him and our family. As for the teachers, students, principal and volunteers we consider Good Shepherd our second family. Just the religious aspect alone is so fullfilling to see how the students interact with the clergy too. We couldn't imagine sending our son to any other school.
I currently have three children attending Good Shepherd School. Overall the past 8 years have been an extremely positive experience for my entire family. The academics are superb and are illustrated over and over in standardized test scores and feedback from Trinity High School teachers & administrators. The warmth that is exuded from GS teachers and administration is so inviting and greatly appreciated. The discipline that is taught at Good Shepherd really prepares our children to be better people now and throughout adulthood.
We just formally dedicated our new school today. The parishioners at Good Shepherd, the surrounding community, and the parental support has been enormous to get it 'off the ground' so to speak. Some say, the new outside facade cannot compare to the beautiful stone work and detail of the old school, now almost completely demolished. But the parents know beyond a doubt, that it's the inside that glows... the inside of intelligent, resourceful and loving faculty, staff and volunteers. The children who attend this school are blessed and have been blessed officially today.
