Charleroi Area Middle School

Parents, You need to wake up! 12 years old and kissing in the halls. Children having babies. High heel shoes, make up,cell phones. Where is the staff? Look what is happening to these girls. They are not 18. They are our babies. Giving them what they want is not right. Are future is in their hands.

Our child is in 6th grade. We are extremely pleased with the teachers. Decent amount of homework, challenging classroom work, and the school handbook has been a tremendous help as our student learns to be more independent and organized. We are impressed with the proactive 'Study Skills' class, teaching some of the key 'tricks' to more effective study habits. The principal is accessible and responsive. More positive parental involvement would strengthen our school community.

The Charleroi Middle School has been an enormous disappointment for both our son as well as my husband and I. The parent/teacher relationships are seriously hindered by the lack of communication to the parents by the teachers. When I confronted the teachers and the principal about why I was not notified my son's grades had fallen by as much as two letter grades I was informed that the school did not imform parents of fallen grades unless the student had a failing grade. Based on our personal experience as well as the state standard test results I would not recommend this school to any parent that cares about the education that their child receives.
