Wonderful School! My daughter has been attending West Vincent since kindergarten and we couldn't be happier. Very caring Principal, Teachers and staff - they truly work with the kids on all levels. To the parents who gave so-so reviews, maybe you should try making yourself available to volunteer in your child's classroom and get involved yourself - after all, it does take parental participation to have a successful and positive school experience for our children. I was very fortunate as a child to attend private school and I feel that my daughter is getting a private school education in a public school - just without the religious training, but then isn't that my job?
so far my daughter likes the school. i do wish they would have more things for parents with special needs kids to do so they can mingle together
This is a beautiful facility with high academics. However, it lacks the warmth and nurturing aspect I had hoped for in an elementary school. School here is business not fun. My child, who needed speech therapy, received it and is doing well. My child, who had ADHD did not have the same positive experience. In fact this year was horrible. I do not believe that many of the staff at this school understand ADHD. Our experience was that children with ADHD are punished harshly for minor behaviors. This is a fine school for children who find sitting in their seats and following rules easy.
Academics are excellent and special ed is amazing. However, having moved here just last summer, I have noticed this school is severely lacking in the social and spirit aspect of education. They need to add some crazy hair days, baseball shirt days, football shirt days, pajama days, etc. Make it fun to go to school and learn. Earth Day was great, but the shirts should have been given to every student by the PTA...we should not have had to purchase them. The bumper stickers should be handed out to every new student entering the school. Pickering Valley and Shamona bumper stickers are everywhere in Chester Springs/Dtown. There are very few West Vincent stickers on the cars. Upon moving here and speaking with my neighbors who have had children at this school since its inception have said it's an institution rather than a family type atmosphere. These are small children and in need of a loving atmosphere in addition to the excellent academics that it already has. The resignation of Barbara Guy, the principal should have been well communicated, but was not. I should not have had to be informed of this via word of mouth. Overall, good school, but it needs tweaking.
West Vincent is a wonderful school. We have a great principal who truly cares for the well being of our children. Our PTA is always organizing events and fundraisers. We had a awesome earth day celebration. It may be small, but it's a mighty school filled with wonderful teachers and volunteers. They have a fantastic autism support class as well, and all children are treated as equals. There is no segregation of the special ed students. It's one for all and all for one !!
This is an awesome elementary school. Mostly due to the principal, Mrs. Guy. All of the staff are friendly, courteous and really care for the students, their learning and their safety. I am trying to move and still keep my son in this school b/c I love it so much!
I have 4 students enrolled at WV Elm. and we love it. I have a child in special ed for speach and it is great, she is doing awesome
