I think DDPS & DDES are absolutely wonderful schools. I came from the city two years ago where my eldest daughter was struggling. We moved here and she has done nothing but excel in all areas of study. The teachers are amazing and are always willing to help.

My son just finished his Kindergarten year here. I am happy to report that my son can read an entire beginners Dr. Suess book, write wonderfully, learned how to add etc etc. I am very happy with schools programs and the teaching staff were excellent. We moved from Queens and to this school district so that my son can have a better education. I can't wait for his 1st grade year to see what other achievements he will achieve at this school.

I would not recommend this school. I had a bad experience with the teachers and principle at this school. Once I got into the next school up which was Dingman Delaware Elementary school, then they started to work and try to help my son rather than label him as a bad kid. It was not until he was in the 2nd year of the elementary school that he was diagnosed with ADHD. Elementary and Middle school were fine for my two kids. We've since moved from this school district into another state and it's amazing how a school's administration and dedication make a difference. He now does not have a behavior problem because, in this state, the teachers, principle all worked together with me.

My child is in first grade this year, and so far I am pleased, and I hope I continue to feel the same throughout the oncoming years.

My children have all attended DDPS, for the last 5 years. We are not disappointed. This is the best primary education choice in all of Northeastern PA.

I am in agreement with one of the parents that your child has to conform. Also if your child had a hard time adjusting to anything they will hold it against them forever, even if they are doing better. Some teachers are great, but others feel there job is only to teach the kids 8-4 and can't even call because it's not in their job discription.

My son started kindergarten this past year. He never went to day care, preschool or participated in a pre-kindergarten class so this put him as a minority in that respect. He was taught at home by me. The beginning of kindergarten was an adjustment for him. His teacher is wonderful. She is strict but compassionate when needed. She is open to communication at anytime. I became the 'class mom' and had the opportunity to work in the classroom. My son will be leaving kindergarten with the ability to read short stories. They also learned to do simply addition and subtraction. My experience with the Primary school has been nothing but positive and feel very comfortable knowing my son is being taken care of.

My son loved kindergarten, but hated first grade. I was not allowed to volunteer in the classroom, and my son began having problems with reading and language arts. He did poorly on the dibels test. There didn't seem to be anyone addressing his needs. It was suggested in October that he be retained, and little attempt, if any, was made to help him in the areas he was weak in.

We moved to the area from Rahway N.J.last year after researching via Great Schools.net which school would be a good influence for my 7 and 11 year old's, now and up to High School. We found that the class rooms were small enough to tend to the kids needs and questions, without having to rush them through the daily curriculum that the teachers had to comply with in order to cover everything that the school district demanded of them. The students are encouraged to ask questions and work with the other kids, instead of sitting in the corner, possibly loosing the opportunity to identify a problem early in the stage. First signs of any weaknesses in a subject matter is quickly identified by the teacher and related to the parent with options to improve on these areas. Great Schools lead us here and I have not yet regret making the move.
