We've had a number of children go through this school and have been very happy. We have had some bumps in the road but they were always handled very well and we were happy in the end. We have had a child with an IEP in the school. This child received more than average services. When other parents would hear about the amount of services he received they were shocked because it was so much...and we didn't have to fight for it. I would send any child to this school...including a child needing an IEP for either physical issues, speech issues or even autism spectrum issues.
My son loved kindergarten and did very well at APC. We loved Kid Writing the most and his teacher was excellent. I was ready to dislike the school when we first moved here, based on the other reviews. But after one school year at APC, we have had nothing but good experiences. The principal was very responsive when we had a problem and handled a delicate situation with a professional approach. Our experience so far has been very positive.
I do not recommend any parent send their child to this school. I sent a very confident child there and they sent me a child who second guesses herself. I thank GOD she is no longer a student at this school. Parents pay close attention to the teacher and the way that she interacts with your child.
I sent my youngest child to Amity Primary when I first moved to Amity. The curriculum was not challenging at all and my son had very little homework, his report card was near perfect. After transferring him to Immaculate Conception Academy, his teacher informed me he was behind in Reading but not to worry as most students who transferred from Amity Primary were behind academically and that they would tutor him up to speed. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
Parents beware!!! If you have an average student your fine. If your child needs or has a IEP do not come here without your advocate. The school will give you the run around. Good luck!
Amity Primary Center is a wonderful, nurturing school. Moving to a new area is always scary. I can tell you this, I have had a wonderful experience here and have found the gifted program extraordinary. The teachers that work with the special needs children are exceptional. I have not one bad word to say about this school nor do any of the parents i'm invovled with. Highly recommended.
