Central Bucks HS-East

The old adage that school is what you make of it, is very true with CB East. The opportunities are abundant both in scholastic and sports. My son was a freshman on the JV Tennis team and had plenty of opportunities before he even enter the high school. For a public school, there is an impressive number of students attending upper tier universities around the country. Our daughter just graduated with 5 AP courses, and was accepted to every college she applied to. And she's a happy well adjusted 18 year old. If someone isn't happy with this school then they didn't really apply themselves in the first place. The opportunities are here if you seek them.

I also attended East for my entire high school career. Although I was not interested in their sports teams, it was very good at its main purpose as a scholarly institution. To say that your child will not achieve any success at East is rather sophomoric, in that it ultimately depends on the pupil in question's drive fulfill accomplishment. In general, the Central Bucks School District provides a considerable array of tools that allow students to mature socially and academically. However, recent cuts to the art department, (namely the photo lab), have severely hindered art school-bound students in presenting well-rounded portfolios. Bottom line, it's a great school, but if art or athletics are your (or your child's) passion, consider private leagues/classes as extra-curricular activities.

I attended East for 3 years. I can honestly say it was the biggest waste of time. For starters the school has this crazy idea that they have a good sports program. This is absolutely false. The sports are a joke and the coaching is an even bigger joke. East hasn't ever been truly 'successful in any sport, nor have they had any major athletes come out of there. Despite all this they publicize that they have a good sports program. I think the programs history can tell you that it is truly a joke, and it's very political, thus the results are what they are. As far as the teachers go, it really depends on what teachers you get for your classes. I would not recommend sending your child to this school, they will not achieve any success at East!

My son is finishing up his senior year at East. Overall I think the quality of the teachers and administration are excellent and they challenge the students to do their best. They encourage involvement in extracurricular activities and community service. I believe he's grown a lot in school and acquired excellent preparation for college.

Teachers amazing! I have a son who I considered high risk for behavioral problems. The teachers have banded together to not only give him a top notch education, but they have also taken an interest in what makes my son tick. He is thriving and loves the school. Great parent interaction!

I graduated from East in 2005 and it was a great experience. I really appreciated it when I went to college and realized how well prepared I was compared to some other students. The academic opportunities at East are unbeatable.

I am currently a student at cb east. In all my time at cb east, I have never seen anyone discriminate against anyone, white, black, asian, hispanic, or any other ethnicity. I know that everyone is upbeat and positive and teachers listen to and respect everyone. My english teacher has a paper on which she has listed students' rights. She gave a copy to each student and i now quote it. ' Everyone has the right to his/her beliefs, opinions, desires, goals, and thoughts, as long as those things do not offend or hurt anyone else- hwen that happens it is no longer a right but an attack'. This exemplifies east's policies and is strictly adhered to. Great school.

I'm not a parent, just a former cb east student. Like many other students, especially those of an ethnic background, i had to struggle. Not to fit in, but to get teacher's to treat me with the same respect they would one of the many other white kids in school. I had to fight with security and principals to enforce there non-discrimatory act. I, like many other ethnic kids, had to make myself heard, seen, and respected as much as any other white students, teachers, parents. Cb east takes pride in their almost segregated school. In many ways it is. White faculty staff against asian, black, hispanic students. I feel my days at cb east would have been the best days of my teenage years if I and many of my friends, didn't have to grow up so fast. If we didn't have to turn every day into a fight.

Over all, the teachers are the ones who make this school shine. As a former student, who graduated in 2002, it is a wonderful feeling to have such a wide selection of teachers who help prepare you for the road ahead. Specifically, the most outstanding teachers I ever came across are the Art teachers. They helped inspire my creativity while letting me think for myself and solve my own problems. I applaude this group of people who have influenced me for the rest of my life. Thank you!
