My son had a better experience in Grade 4 this year compared to last year.I find that his homeroom teacher was just pushing him along whether he understood the material or not ,esp in Reading Comprehension. He had difficulty with Summarizing but I don't think she took the time to make sure all the kids understood the topic before moving on to another. She said to me" that don't worry he will meet it again in the 5th Grade" I don't want him to wait to 5th Grade to understand it,I want him to understand now as it is being taught. They have differential learning where they pull kids out of the homeroom class and place them in groups for Math and Reading based on their intelligence level, however there is a Challenge Class which even if your child has above average grades, it is difficult to get into. I feel like there are inequalities in grouping of students. Also during Award ceremonies, they give out awards for the Most improved student rather than the A+ students who have performed well during the school year. This I found unfair to the those to work hard consistently. Its almost like you have to be dumper than dirt and show improvement to get an award.I will talk to admin about this.
E.S.E is very good school, the curriculum challenges the students, the parent teachers association is very involved and the principal is AWESOME!!! I encourage all of you to keep up the good work. 'It takes a village to raise a child'.
This school is beautiful and the teachers are amazing!
East Stroudsburg Elementary School provides a high level of education to all students.
I love E. Stroudsburg elementery because, The teachers and staff really care about all of their students and strive to make sure each and everyone of them have the tools necessary to succeed to the next level where the students are met with the same enthusiasm to help with the next step. ESE Rocks !
My daughter started her first year of Kindergarten at ESE and she did great! She had the most wonderful and dedicated teachers to break her out of her shell. In the beginning of the year she was very quiet and did not participate in class much at all and by the second semester she was motivated and driven to be and do her best! ESE is a wonderful school and I look forward to this upcoming year!
'No playground equipment!' That is my children's cheif complaint. Apparently the district left the playground equipment up to the PTO. And, they are not allowed to speak during Lunch. This is a newly built school that is 3 stories tall. And seems designed more for Middle or Highschoolers than elementary Students. Oh, There seems to be plenty of room for Athletic fields. There is little parking left over for parents after the Teachers/Staff arrive. What were they thinking? This is a school built for approx 800 students with the tinyest cafeteria I have ever seen. Just like any school, you have different teachers w/different teaching styles. Challenge classes are available. The PTO has done an excellent job raising funds for the children and that playground the school so desperately needs.
