This school lacks educational quality in every way. My daughter was punished for doing more work because she was done with her assigned work before the other kids. She became bored and was not allowed to get her book to read quietly. This type of punishment discourages children to try harder; it teaches a philosophy of "it's okay to be bored and lazy". This is a general problem in our society and now I am seeing how we are instilling this thought process the children. Heaven forbid we should encourage children, let's squash them down and make them feel inadequate instead so that our society can go further down out sinking path. I am moving her out of this school and this district. It has a ranking of a 2 on a scale of 1-10. They have bullies in the classes who are allowed to be mean to other children, there are children with severe hygiene issues that are not addressed. My daughter comes home saying "axe" instead of ask, and "valentimes" instead of valentines because this is the type of language and grammar she hears on a daily basis. If you can afford it, move. If you cannot afford it, find a school that welcomes open enrollment and get them to that school

I am very disappointed in Diehl Elementary. It used to be one of the best schools in Erie, but apparently has rapidly gone downhill. My son went from being an honor student for 3 years to getting C's and D's when he transferred to Diehl. The teacher he had this year is very condescending to the students..(rolling her eyes and making smart comments to the students). I wish that you could choose a school in Erie because my choice would certaintly not be Diehl.

This is a new school year, Diehl has a new principal and I can't comment on her leadership. My grandchild attended sixth grade at Diehl last year. He does not attend there this year. The 2005-2006 school year was his first and last at this school. I found discipline somewhat of a joke, parental involvement non-existent and communication lacking. The student/teacher ratio is much too high. My grandchild and his needs were lost in this setting. While I can't speak about all the teachers in this school, I found his teachers unwilling to listen and hear when I tried to discuss pertinent matters with them. I truly feel that the teachers are not teaching the subject matter effectively. There is too much focus on getting the students through the state required tests. My student scored extremely high on the tests but the teachers decided to hold him back. Explain that.

Diehl is a very nice school.I will not want, my son to change schools at all. The school gose up to eighth grade, an him his self love the school, the teachers are very nice an you can talk to them, with them not turnig you away or turning thier nose up at you, you can get along with all of them, the principal is new to the school this year we have to wait an see how things turn out for her,but so far she seems pretty nice, the students all get along with each other. The older ones help the smaller ones when ever they have the time too do so, the bigger grade student also get along with the teachers, like i said for one thing the teachers at diehl elementary school gets along very well also with each other.

Diehl School is a neighborhood school. Teacher - Parent relationship is excellent. Students are well behaved, well educated and eager to learn.
