We moved to Fairfield to raise our children in a small town atmosphere. We expected a school full of spirit. We expected teachers/administrators who were involved. We feel like we have failed our children. If we had to do this all over, we would not have chosen Fairfield. We have dealt with the administration over teacher issues, as has many others we have talked too and have gotten nowhere, as have the others. Only a small group of parents are involved trying to make it a better school. School spirit lacks in this school. I agree with the other person who stated hardly anyone goes to the conferences. You hardly ever see teachers at the sporting events. The administrators do not even live in the district! There are handful of great teachers, but unfortunately they cannot teach every subject. The elementary school is great, but I suggest you move before the middle/high school years.
I am a former student attending this school district from elementary school up until high school graduation. I felt behind in multiple subjects when I left Fairfield High School and attended college. Some subjects I have never had exposure to in high school, including sociology, psychology, statistics and physics. Some were my choice of course, but I think all students should have some sort of exposure to those courses. The teachers were below average/average, the academic programs were not at all challenging. I barely studied in high school and got by with great grades. The leadership from up top (principals, administrators) was below average. Yes, the school is small in terms of the amount of students, but this was not necessarily a good thing. The overall student body is not at all diverse in terms of social background and ethnicity, while this isn't necessarily a direct cause of the following problem, it certainly aids in the often clique-like and even sometimes racist culture many of the students possess. If you relocate to this district, it is highly recommended that you send your kids to a private school.
I am a parent and I would not send a child to this school district. Due to a job relocation we moved here from an excellent school district out of state. My smart and (previously) popular child was not welcomed by the students and sat alone for over 6 months. The amount of bullying and threatening that went on almost drove me to call the police as the administration would do nothing. Most of the teachers that my child had were not quality educators and one, in particular, insisted that a blatantly incorrect use of grammar was correct. We asked why our child received no homework and the superintendent told us that the parents won't make them do it so they don't assign any. Very few parents showed up on the evening of parent teacher conferences. At our old school there were lines down the hall for every teacher. Our child said that the teachers did not seem to like their jobs and spent a large portion of each class period disciplining the students. We took our child out of this school district and sent him/her to private school. I should have listened to the real estate agent when she told us this was an awful school district. STAY AWAY!
Hey I went to FF, coulda did better, but just didn't. The school wasn 't totally bad. Small at the time, which limited activities enjoyed at most schools. However, intimacy found in a small setting allows for a chance to hear and be heard.
I am not a parent but I did go to this school. It isnt a very good school. The teachers are horrible and they do not help the students. The students themselves are terrible. I was included. There are so many things going on in Fairfield school that people know about but do not do anything about. If I was a parent, I wouldnt send my child to this school.
ok...truthfully i'm not a parent...but i used to attend FHS. It's a good school, great teachers, wonderful kids, just all around a good way to spend the four years of high school.
I'm not a parent but I went to Fairfield Middle school and to the HS for a year. It is an excellent school with students who are very dedicated and loving. Everyone is accepted for who they are and nobody is forced to be someone they're not. That's all you can ask for.
