When we first moved to Greencastle I absolutely LOVED this scohol and in fact they do work well with children on the spectrum , However this year my daughter has a teacher who has called the children in the class PIGS and has unfairly punished her and I can get no where with the principal as it truely seems he will stand by the teachers No matter what the situation. Even another studen came fwd on what was going on and still .... nothing was done or even taken seriouse. I know this school does have better teachers than this and I hope next year is better.
It's a good school in many ways. It is, however, lacking in updated textbooks. My son's 4th grade Social Studies text still talks about the Soviet Union as a current county.
School is OK. Good and bad teachers, good and bad parents. Unreal parent support. The district really doesn't care about the arts and it is a shame. The TEST and sports are the name of the game. Send you kid here if you want a clone.
Yes the test scores may be low, but if that is all you are going to base your choice on then you are not getting a well rounded view. This school has amazing teachers who go above and beyond for their students. The classroom enviornment is very welcoming and the students are very excited and eager to learn. Also the environmental center is a great added feature that most schools do not have. Overall my experience with Greencastle Elementary has been fabulous. I would recommend it to anyone!
We moved into the area in the middle of the school year. Our child felt very invited and feels she is better involved. She has expressed to us she really enjoies her new scholl and is learning alot easier.
