This school is hands down excellent! They have gone out of their way to get special services for my son. He has a one on one whom they hired themselves and I did not need to get one of my own. Since Kindergarten he has progressed so much. Now he is in 2nd grade and has been Student of the Month, Star of the Week and won many advanced reading awards. The staff is great and always available when I have questions. The new principle is fantastic and does well managing the school and staff. I could not ask for a better school.
This is a great school. As far as special education, the school is more than willing to take initiative to take the necessary steps to have the child evaluated, have an IEP created along with working with the school to support the child in both academics, morality and *behavioral* issues. Learning isn't only about academics. It's also about character and morality which need to be instilled and reinforced at home. Overall this school is an EXCELLENT school and there is a reason the school scores so well, because the teachers really work with the kids in trying to make sure each and every one succeeds to the best of their ability. If you want non-traditional learning, then send your kids to a montessori or home-school them.
This school is fine for students who are traditional learners. There are some wonderful teachers, especially in the 2nd and 3rd grade and they are simply gems. However, if your child has a learning disability, getting the resources your child needs may be extremely difficult at this school and in this district. The general attitude of some of the teachers is that the student is just being lazy. The school does not create an atmosphere that affirms and embraces all students. Kids are labeled and some teachers share gossip with parent volunteers. Although the principal is truly devoted to the kids, she does not manage her staff well.
This school is not all everyone says about it. Some other districts in Montgomery county are much better. The resources at this school are limited and the teachers are a bit deficient as compared to other schools. The principal if friendly, but really does not know what she is doing.
My child loves every teacher in this school. They are always providing the students with activities that allows them to use their minds but have fun and being kids. Any concerns that I may have they are immediately addressed.
My husband & I are very... pleased... with our son's school, Crooked Billet in Hatboro, Pa. Our son is excelling in his reading & spelling, so the teacher gave him extra about 6 extra words & they are a little more challenging than all the other... words,to spell. His teacher thought he may be bored, so this is what she recomeened & we agreed with her suggestions.... We have been told since he was 4 yrs. old that we should have him tested, so he doesn't get bored in school & have other children in his class rooms hold him back. The teacher keeps in touch with us via e-mail.He's really excelling so much, we are very proud of our son's abilitys in reading books & knowing how to spell words that we challenage.... him with, just about every day. (His teachers... told us we should have him take an enrichment test.)
