This school scores well on PSSA testing in both reading and math. This is due largely in part to the small class sizes, demographics, and emphasis on balanced literacy. Unfortunately, all students with IEPs are shipped to Wingate Elementary, this also is a factor in high PSSA test scores when compared to other schools who choose to serve all kids. The school has a small library and an updated computer lab. Music classes offer many opportunities for children to use high quality instruments. There is also a small but active PTO that does much fundraising for the students. Overall, Howard is an outstanding school with an emphasis on high academic achievement.
