West Hempfield Elementary School

In the Fall of 2010, my daughter transferred to West Hempfield Elementary School from a private school that she had attended since Kindergarten. We really had no idea what to expect because we had never dealt with public schools. We are so impressed with every aspect of WHE. The teachers as well as the curriculum are outstanding. They learn with positive reinforcement, which we believe is the key to a happy successful student. My daughter has never once mentioned one bullying issue, which tells us that they have a firm grasp of how to control this serious issue. It speaks volumes when you have a child that jumps out of bed every morning because she can't wait to get to school. That is exactly the environment that we hoped our daughter would have....and WHE has exceeded our expectations. It was definately the right choice for us. Hats off to Mr. Sarnelli and his entire staff. Keep up the great work!

My two grandsons attend West Hempfield. One of my grandsons is special needs. The two classroom teachers he has had were reaally understanding and caring. The nurse was extremely important for his well-being. I am so thankful to have such special people watching over my grandsons.

West Hempfield's Kindergarten reading program is phenomenal! By the end of my son's Kindergarten year, he could read simple books on his own. I was quite impressed!

We have been very pleased with West Hempfield. The teacher to student ratio is about 1:18 until fourth grade. Half the year french, the other spanish. Anti-bullying program at school. The building is brand new as of 2002. Concentration in math from first grade to meet national standards. Utilizes a reading program to fit your childs need.
