Lakeland Elementary School

As a taxpayer in the district, I am apalled at the nepotistic hiring practices of this district. We have had many highly qualified teachers and administration candidates who were overloked to give the jobs to relatives and friends. I believe the hiring should be done on qualification, not relationship to a board member or administrator.

As a parent actively involved in the PTA it drives me nuts that there are certain teachers in this school who never get out from behind their desks. They just sit there pouting and shouting orders. If you are too lazy to get up and teach, then quit. There are thousands of people wanting those jobs.

Nice, friendly and safe school, however having recently moved into this district I was shocked at how little participation there is by the teachers in school related activities. PTA seems very active, and school seems to be fine academically, but school could use some new blood where the teachers are concerned.

My children have just recently been enrolled in this school, and I cannot say enough about it. It is wonderful! The teachers and principles are caring and really take the time to make sure these kids have the tools they need to succeed.My children are excited about learning, and my youngest does everything she can to avoid any colds, because she does not want to miss school, That is a wonderful change for us. If only all the other schools in Pennsylvania could learn from this school district. All I can say is job well done, to all of the staff! I will never leave this district.

THis school offers a lot of instructional support along with after school tutoring programs to help students succeed. Lakeland also offers highly qualified teachers to lead this school and there are lots of programs available for parents to get involved in and also community outreach programs.
