My daughter goes to this school and I love it. The teachers are wonderful, care about the children and are fully committed to helping them succeed. I couldn't ask for anything more.

As a Parent of two graduates, and a continuing participant in the life of KWS, I continue to be impressed with the breadth of interests and ability to think shown by students who go to school here. Teachers are engaged and knowledgeable in their areas and bring education in a way just beginning to be supported by current brain research. A wonderful education for the whole person, heart, head and hands.

Sending my children to Kimberton was the best investment I ever made. My children are recent graduates and loved the high school and their teachers and remark to me how grateful they are to them for their broad-ranging education. They have even emailed notes of thanks to them. Their college professors have singled them out as outstanding thinkers and exceptional writers, and written remarkable recommendations and references. I was pleased at their interest in subjects outside their majors and their continuing interest in culture, the arts and great books. Kimberton taught them how to think!

We have been sending our children here for 14 years and are getting ready to withdraw. The once wonderful high school has deteriorated drastically in recent years, due largely to financial challenges and a resulting diminished curriculum, faculty morale issues, and hiring of newer teachers who are both uninspiring to young people and uninformed about Waldorf pedagogy. Retention issues have resulted in seats being filled with part-year foreign students, some on exchange and some visiting. Lots of students are always coming and going. It is heartbreaking for me to say "Beware."

My daughter has been going to KWS for 3 years. The best decision we ever made. It is a warm, inviting and nurturing environment, setup to allow the child to develop in a natural way, not force fed like today's institutions.

My daughter is in second grade and we currently drive her from Reading (about 45 minutes) everyday. I think Waldorf schools are among the best and from what I understand KWS is the second oldest in the country (NYC being the oldest).

Both my Children attended Kimberton Waldorf. It afforded them an exceptional education with many important experiences most schools no adays ignore! Best choice I ever made

Early elementary children take in the world primarily through images and feelings, so for these ages teachers recite vivid stories and present the curriculum poetically rather than through dry textbook facts. Young children learn through movement, imitation and play, so the teacher leads the class through numerous games, dances and exercises (such as counting or reciting poems while clapping or marching) and introduces them to a unique form of expressive movement, eurhythmy. At all stages, imagination and artistic expression are cultivated to the fullest extent possible.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
