My son attended this school and he LOVED it! Yes he was in the gifted program so I can't speak for the regular classes but the gifted teachers were fabulous. Wonderful school in my opinion.
Not to correct the parent who submitted the information about PSSA results but to inform them. The PSSA results of the gifted students as well as those from the SED students go back to the original school that the student should be enrolled in. This school is excellent.
This school's PSSA results include students in grades 1-5 in the 'gifted' program who are bused there from all of the other elementary schools in the district. If these students' scores were removed from Chester Street's statistics, it would provide a more accurate view of this school's overall rating. The middle school is right across the street from Chester Street for grades 6-8. Take a look at 6th grade scores and then on to the high school in Plymouth and you will notice quite a decline. Nice school if your child is one of the few to be deemed 'gifted' and awarded a federal/state funded GIEP, but less impressive for the average student than appears in this school's rating.
No parental involvement unless you are Homeroom mom. Lack of teacher/parent involvement- parent teacher conferences are far and few. Not very happy.
A really great close knit school. There really is a sense of closeness and caring between the students and teachers/staff. A wonferful school really.
I'm not a parent but I am a former student of Chester Street Elmentary School. The education here is amazing compared to the other schools in the district and even in the state when it comes to it's gifted program. There is a catch though. The children are very cliquey and if they arent up to date on fashions and don't have the newest things they are shunned out.
This school houses a 'gifted' program where the students get special funding and are separated from their peers for their education. Their scores should not be compared with the other elementary schools in the district.
